Today, Malindi Community Human Rights Centre successfully held a Community Baraza at Karima, Shella Ward, bringing together community members for meaningful dialogue on issues affecting our area. This engagement brought together the area Assistant Chief, The clergy, village elders, Assistant Chiefs from all over the location and community members.
The discussions focused on security concerns, the growing impact of youth gangs, and the worrying increase in school dropouts among young people. Community members openly shared experiences, concerns, and practical ideas aimed at creating safer spaces, promoting education, and strengthening collective responsibility. Sustainable solutions begin with community voices, and today’s engagement reaffirmed the power of dialogue, partnership, and local action in building a safer and more empowered society.
We appreciate every community member, local leader, youth representative, and stakeholder who participated and contributed to the conversation. Together, we continue working towards a secure, informed, and empowered community.

Malindi Community Human Rights Centre reminds all Sexual offenders should know that the law is clear, there is a special place for them in Maximum Security Prisons and the courts continue to hand down maximum sentences for those who prey on innocent children. Our school girls deserve protection, safety, dignity, and the freedom to pursue education without fear. Stay away from school girls. Protect our children, respect the law, and end sexual violence in our communities.

The streets of Malindi and Gede are stained with the blood of our youth and the tears of broken families. We are no longer just talking about "crime"; we are talking about a reign of terror by the .
How do you comfort a mother whose son’s hand was chopped off? How do you silence the screams of a family mourning a life cut short by juvenile gangs? The community did the unthinkable. At great personal risk, they stood up and exercised their right to Citizen Arrest as provided under Section 34 of the Criminal Procedure Code. They followed the law to the letter and handed these criminals over to the Malindi Police Station. We finally felt a glimmer of hope.
But that hope has been traded for fear. The Malindi Community Human Rights Centre confirms that these suspects, violent criminals who have maimed injured and killed have been secretly released. They are back in our alleys. They are back at our doorsteps. This isn't just a failure of duty; it is a death sentence for the whistleblowers.
We are tired of burials. We are tired of living in a fortress of fear while criminals walk free.
Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen Your silence is deafening. Malindi is part of Kenya, and we are being slaughtered. We need an immediate cleanup of the security leadership in this region. Directorate of Criminal Investigations - DCI These are not just "kids"; they are organized killers. We need your elite units to step in before the community is forced to take the law into its own hands. National Police Service Explain to the victims why their attackers are free. Who authorized the release of the Mawoza gang against the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code? We demand accountability NOW. The blood of the next victim will be in the hands of the officers who opened those cell doors.
