I am excited to share that we’ve launched the avocado farming initiative here in Teso North — a step towards empowering our farmers and creating new income opportunities.

Avocados are not just a nutritious fruit — they are a crop with great potential for both local consumption and export. By embracing this initiative, our farmers can diversify their sources of income, improve household livelihoods, and strengthen our local economy.

This is about planting today for a harvest that will benefit generations.

Let’s grow this together. 👇

Over 6,600 Teso North Constituency students on Monday received Sh75 million worth of bursaries for secondary schools and other institutions.

A total of 200 students studying outside the constituency received Sh15m with 6000 students within the constituency receiving Sh35m.

Teso North MP Oku Kaunya said other students who received bursaries in special programmes included doctors, lawyers, engineers and pilots.

The MP said NG-CDF has also sponsored 400 students to study at KMTC Teso Campus and other campuses in outside countries.

Dr. Kaunya said the Teso North NGF-CDF has not disbursed Sh30m, which they will use for payment of university students, adding that each each student received Sh5,000. St Marks ACK Machakusi received Sh465,000.

St Monica Chakol Girls with 88 students each received Sh5,000 while St Paul’s Amukura has 22 students from Teso North Constituency.

Teremi Boys from Bungoma County received Sh220,000. Other schools that benefited from the bursaries’ disbursement included Tamulega, Bishop Eliud Wabukakala, and Chaele Girls, among others.

One of the most inspiring aspects of serving as your MP is seeing the real impact of the NG-CDF bursary program through the lives of our young people.

The stories of these young fellows remind us why this support matters — keeping students in school, easing the burden for families, and building a stronger future for Teso North.

Because behind every bursary is a dream worth investing in.
