Today, we had the pleasure of hosting delegates from the Danish Red Cross, including country managers from Somalia, Ethiopia, Niger, South Sudan, Mali , Malawi Sudan and Kenya.

During the mission, the delegation visited the youth-led nature-based solutions project, where they engaged with young people and volunteers to learn about ongoing environmental conservation and climate resilience initiatives.

The team also interacted with members of the Community Disaster Management Committee, discussing community-led approaches to anticipatory action and disaster preparedness.

The visit provided an opportunity to share experiences, strengthen collaboration, and showcase the impact of local initiatives in building resilient communities and promoting sustainable development.

Today, we held a productive meeting with a representative from Bamburi Cement to explore potential areas of collaboration. The discussion focused on identifying opportunities for partnership in initiatives that align with our shared goals.

Bamburi Cement supports skills development and training programs, facilitates health outreach initiatives, and actively contributes to biodiversity conservation and ecosystem rehabilitation. These areas closely align with our commitment to building resilient and empowered communities.

As a way forward, we agreed to jointly develop a brief concept note highlighting areas of mutual interest to guide our engagement and lay the foundation for future collaboration. We look forward to working together to create meaningful and sustainable impact within our communities.

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, 32 teams participated in the Kwale County First Aid Competition at the Msambweni Youth Opportunity Center in Mvindeni Ukunda.

The event aimed to promote first aid knowledge and skills among students and the community.
Participants were assessed through theoretical and practical exercises, including a simulated emergency scene that tested their ability to respond, collaborate, and make quick decisions.

Teachers and directors praised the initiative for equipping students with essential lifesaving skills and emphasized the importance of continuous first aid education in creating safer communities.

Today, our team was on standby during the burial of Zuhura Rama Higa at Mkwakwani , Ukunda,Kwale County, one of the 16 victims of the Utumishi Girls Academy Fire Tragedy.

The team provided one-on-one counselling, psychological debriefing, emotional support, and psychoeducation on grief and coping mechanisms to family members and other affected individuals.

During the session, family members openly shared their emotions, experiences, and cherished memories of the deceased. They were receptive to the support offered, actively engaged in discussions on healthy coping strategies, and expressed appreciation for the psychosocial assistance provided during this difficult time.

The intervention aims to promote emotional well-being, facilitate healthy grieving, and strengthen resilience among bereaved family members and the wider community.
