Lungalunga Youth CBO conducted an engagement session with adolescents and young people at Lungalunga Catholic Church.

The session provided a safe and interactive space for young people to share their experiences, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions on issues affecting their health, wellbeing, rights, and future.

We remain committed to creating platforms where adolescents and young people can access accurate information, build life skills, and actively participate in decisions that affect their lives.

Public Participation on Kwale County Budget FY 2027/2028

Lungalunga Youth CBO participated in a public participation forum on the Kwale County Budget for FY 2027/2028.

This marks the first stage of public engagement, where citizens and stakeholders have an opportunity to propose and identify projects and programmes that should be prioritized in the coming Financial Year.

As Lungalunga Youth CBO, we continue to advocate for meaningful youth participation in county planning and budgeting processes, ensuring that the priorities and needs of young people and the wider community are reflected in the County’s development agenda.

Lungalunga Youth CBO had the privilege of engaging girls at Kichukwa Primary School in a menstrual hygiene awareness session aimed at promoting dignity, confidence, and better health outcomes.

As part of our commitment to ensuring that no girl misses school because of menstruation, we distributed 300 sanitary pad packs to support their menstrual health and help them stay in school.

Together, we are breaking stigma, empowering girls with knowledge, and creating a future where every girl can manage her menstruation safely and with dignity.

Earlier today, in partnership with Youth for a Sustainable World - YSW, Lungalunga Youth CBO successfully convened a community dialogue forum bringing together parents, teachers, religious leaders, youth representatives, community elders, health workers, law enforcement, and local administrators to discuss issues affecting adolescents.

The dialogue focused on strengthening community support for Life Skills Education, promoting positive social norms, preventing harmful practices such as FGM and child marriage, supporting adolescent mothers to return to school, and improving parent-child communication on sexual and reproductive health.

Together, we reaffirmed our shared responsibility to protect and empower young people and build safer, healthier, and more equitable communities.

Today, Lungalunga Youth CBO proudly joined the County Government and other stakeholders in commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Day at Ng’onzini Primary School in Samburu Sub-County. The event was held under the global theme **“Together for a ,”** a call to action that promotes menstrual health, dignity, education, and the elimination of stigma surrounding menstruation.

The day brought together learners, teachers, community leaders, health practitioners, and development partners in a shared commitment to ensuring that every girl can manage her menstruation safely, confidently, and with dignity. Through interactive and educational sessions, girls were equipped with essential knowledge on menstrual hygiene management, including proper use and disposal of sanitary products, personal hygiene practices, understanding the menstrual cycle, and the importance of seeking accurate health information. These discussions helped demystify menstruation and encouraged girls to embrace it as a normal and healthy part of life.

A key focus of the commemoration was empowering girls to remain in school and actively participate in learning during their menstrual periods. Participants were encouraged to break the silence surrounding menstruation, challenge harmful myths and misconceptions, and support one another in creating a safe and inclusive environment where no girl is held back because of her period. Research and global advocacy efforts continue to show that menstrual health is closely linked to girls’ education, confidence, health, and overall well-being.

The event also highlighted the importance of involving the entire community—including boys, parents, teachers, and leaders—in promoting menstrual health awareness. Building a period-friendly world requires collective action to ensure access to menstrual products, accurate information, supportive school environments, and adequate sanitation facilities for all girls and women.

Lungalunga Youth CBO remains committed to championing the rights, health, and empowerment of adolescent girls and young women. By supporting initiatives such as the County MHM Day commemoration, the organization continues to contribute towards a future where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, opportunity, or dignity.

At Happy Life Academy, we had an impactful and engaging session with school-going girls, focusing on menstrual hygiene and the triple threat —teenage pregnancy, early marriage, and school dropout.

Through open conversations, interactive discussions, and safe spaces for sharing, the girls were empowered with knowledge and confidence to better understand their bodies, manage their menstrual health with dignity, and make informed life choices.
