On Saturday March 7th, to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), Daughters of Mumbi Global Resource Center organized a Legal Clinic on Women’s Land Rights in partnership with already identified lawyers who provided pro-bono one-on-one consultation services to participants. The event was public and open to all.

In recognition of challenges faced by women to access services, we provided a free medical Camp including optical services, hosted by Avenue Hospital Kikuyu, a blood donation exercise organized by KBTTS and encouraged community members to contribute to the national blood supply, and SHA registration. We also provided a ``kids corner`` with fun activities for children that allowed young mothers to participate in the event. We hope the event created a space to advance women’s rights by strengthening women’s access to, control over, and ownership of land, which is a foundational right linked to women’s economic security, bodily autonomy, dignity, and freedom from violence.

The event attracted over 900+ registered participants.!! Great turnout and a powerful International Women’s Day celebration! :-)

THE 2026 IWD theme is: Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls. This year’s theme calls for action to dismantle the structural barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls. “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers.”

Thank you to our incredible partners KBTTS Nairobi, Women Lawyers, and Avenue Hospital Kikuyu, and to everyone who showed up, learned, shared, and celebrated with us.

Together, we continue advancing women’s rights.

🎄 End of Year Luncheon | Daughters of Mumbi Global Resource Center 🎄

Yesterday, 18th December 2025, Daughters of Mumbi Global Resource Center held a beautiful End of Year Luncheon, bringing together 240 members in a vibrant and festive celebration of community, reflection, and gratitude.

The luncheon began with a word from the Bible led by our Executive Director, Madam Njoki, grounding us in faith and thanksgiving. We were then blessed by a powerful and timely message on family matters from our guest speaker, Pastor Francis Njuguna.

We were honored to be joined by our esteemed Guests of Honor and long-time resource persons to Daughters of Mumbi:
Hon. Henry Wanyoike, Hon. Philip, Counsellor Lucy, Ms. Joyce, and our Daughters of Mumbi Global Resource Center Board Members. Your continued support and guidance mean so much to our journey.

Our Project Coordinator, Ms. Ciiru, shared key announcements before we enjoyed a warm, shared lunch together. As the day came to a close, members departed with a care package, a small token of appreciation for being part of the Daughters of Mumbi family.

We are deeply grateful for the unity, joy, and sisterhood that continues to define our community. Here’s to closing the year in gratitude and stepping into the new year with hope and strength

🌟 DAY 2 — WRAPPING UP STRONG!
We spent the second day diving into self-esteem, purpose, overcoming life challenges: drug and substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS awareness. The young people showed incredible curiosity, courage, and openness throughout the sessions.

We closed with certificates, smiles, and a renewed sense of confidence and direction.

To the parents : thank you for trusting us with your amazing young people. We look forward to supporting them even more. 💛

✨ DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS!
Our 15–20 year-old seminar kicked off with powerful sessions on finding your place in the world, understanding your personality, overcoming life challenges, and building healthy communication across generations.

In the evening, the youth had an honest and refreshing peer exchange session on anger management and emotional wellbeing , a safe space to speak, learn, and support one another.

A big thank you to all parents for trusting us with your children. 💛
We are honoured to walk this journey with them.

On Friday, we joined the global campaign right here in Kiambu County.Coming together to talk about inequality, debt justice, and why our voices matter.

We shared why debt cancellation isn’t just about numbers, it’s about dignity, fairness, and freeing up resources for what really matters: health, education, and support for women and farmers.

Kiambu is part of the 99% and our voices must be heard in the fight for a fairer world. 💪🌍
