The Kiambu County Government, through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation and Cooperatives, is pleased to participate in the 9TH Africa Agri Expo 2026, co-located with the 2nd Future Food, Livestock & Poultry Expo – Kenya.

The Expo offers a strategic platform to engage with industry leaders, policymakers, buyers, and innovators, while showcasing emerging technologies, partnerships, and investment opportunities that are shaping the future of Africa’s agriculture, food, and livestock sectors.

Starting Monday, 6th October 2025, Kiambu County will roll out a subsidized digital vaccination program against Foot & Mouth Disease.

- Cost: KSh 50 per animal (instead of KSh 160)
- Pay via M-Pesa and get your voucher through your cooperative.
- Vaccination will be door-to-door and will also include animal registration.

- Exercise to run for 2–3 months

All dairy farmers in all 60 wards of Kiambu are encouraged to register with their cooperatives today!

On 1/10/2025. It was suggested and agreed for the creation of this Nyathuna Ward NAVCDP Stakeholders Forum (WhatsApp Group & Facebook group)

This platform brings together all stakeholders involved in the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) activities within Nyathuna Ward — ALL ZONES (Nyathuna -Kirangari-Karura-Gathiga) including farmers, youths and women groups, extension officers, local administration, CIGs/VMGs,Fpo, Sacco, Agripreneurs, Agri & Agro service providers, and implementing partners.

Objectives of the group:

Share updates and progress on NAVCDP activities in Nyathuna Ward.

Strengthen collaboration between project teams and community groups.

Exchange knowledge, success stories, and opportunities for value-chain development.

Provide timely communication on trainings, field visits, and stakeholder meetings.

Promote transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in project implementation.

Group Guidelines:
✅ Maintain professionalism and respect in all discussions.
✅ Only Agriculture and project-related information should be shared.
✅ Avoid posting or forwarding unrelated content or political debates.

✅ We had a fruitful stakeholders engagement National Agriculture NAVCDP Financial Year 2026/27 Mid-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) at ACK Ndunyu Wangige.

This important meeting brought together farmers, local community farmers groups, county and ward officials, partners, and development stakeholders to review progress, deliberate on challenges, and set clear priorities for the next financial year.

Key Outcomes of the Session:

Strengthened alignment of NAVCDP interventions with community-driven priorities.

Enhanced commitment to accountability, transparency, and inclusivity in resource allocation.

Shared learnings across value chains to accelerate growth and sustainability.

Prioritized Activities for NAVCDP 2026/27:

🌱 Value Chain Development – focus on poultry, dairy, avocado, bananas, and leafy vegetables for Nyathuna Ward and beyond.

🏗️ Infrastructure Support construction and rehabilitation of market sheds, aggregation centers, rural access roads, and small-scale irrigation.
💰 Access to Finance - linking farmer groups with SACCOs, grants, and affordable credit facilities for agribusiness expansion.
📚 Capacity Building & Training – farmer education on modern farming practices, social practices, digital agriculture, climate-smart farming, and group governance.
🏭 Value Addition & Agro-Processing – support for local processing units (e.g., dairy chilling plants, avocado oil processing, poultry feed formulation).
🤝 Partnerships & Market Linkages – connecting farmers to buyers, cooperatives, exporters, and regional/international markets.
🌍 Climate & Environmental Sustainability – promoting soil health, disease control,tree planting, water harvesting, and eco-friendly farming methods.

This MTEF engagement reaffirmed our shared mission of empowering farmers, driving food security, and ensuring sustainable rural development across Kiambu County and Kenya at large.
