The aim of the group is to give hope to all refugees who run from their home country for rescuering their life.

From building a partnership and networking to supporting BYC's team and community. Martin's journey reflects what refugee-led development looks like in practice: turning local resources and lived experience into solutions that last.

Bidii Yetu for Change (BYC) Director Joins Turkana County Assembly Sensitization Session on Refugee Petition Rights
The Bidii Yetu for Change (BYC) Director joined Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) Yesterday, Wednesday 8th July 2026, at the UNHCR Conference Room for a sensitization and public awareness session led by the Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly and his team.
The session, which ran from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., focused on the amended Standing Orders that now allow refugees to petition the County Assembly directly. Participants received practical guidance on how to draft and submit petitions — a major step toward strengthening civic participation and deepening refugee engagement in county governance.
BYC remains committed to empowering refugee and host communities to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

Bidii Yetu for Change (BYC) is delighted to welcome the COHERE Team from Nairobi for their third monitoring and evaluation visit to our organization.
The purpose of their visit was to assess the progress of our activities and witness firsthand how their support is creating meaningful change within the community. We were honored to host the team, and all BYC staff were present during the visit.
We had productive discussions, shared our achievements and challenges, and received valuable feedback. We are especially grateful for the team's appreciation of our work and their continued commitment .
We sincerely thank the COHERE Team for their ongoing partnership, trust, and encouragement. Together, we are making a lasting impact and building stronger, more resilient communities.

Bidii Yetu for Change (BYC) is greatly honored to celebrate the participation of our Executive Director, Mr. Martin Abumba, at the Global Stakeholders NGOs Summit 2026 in Nairobi.

His participation in this important event will provided valuable knowledge, insights, and networking opportunities that will further strengthen his leadership and enhance his contribution to our organization and community. We are proud to witness his growth, dedication, and commitment as he continues to represent BYC with excellence and passion.

We are delighted to have him represent our organization on such a significant platform and bring back experiences and ideas that will help us better serve refugees and host communities in Kakuma and beyond.

Yesterday, Bidii Yetu for Change joined the world in commemorating World Refugee Day.
Celebrating this day does not mean that people are happy to be refugees. Rather, it is a moment to reflect on the circumstances that force people to flee their homes and seek safety in other countries.
Living as a refugee in a foreign country is not easy. Many refugees face discrimination, insults, limited access to basic needs, restrictions on employment opportunities, and challenges in earning a sustainable income. For many families, going to bed hungry has sadly become part of daily life.
Despite these hardships, refugees remain resilient and hopeful. We believe that one day, displacement will end, and people will no longer be defined by the status of being refugees.
We call upon individuals, organizations, and leaders to stand with refugees, empower them, support their initiatives, and trust in their abilities. When refugees are given opportunities, they contribute positively to their communities and help create a better world for everyone.
Together, we stand with refugees.
Together, we stand for dignity, hope, and opportunity.

Bidii Yetu for Change (BYC) was honored to receive a visit from the COHERE Kakuma team, represented by Mr. Kavi Bisimwa and Ms. Islam Ahmed.
Their visit had a great impact on our organization. We had meaningful discussions on various issues, and we were delighted by their valuable advice, encouragement, and appreciation of our work. Their recognition reminds us that we are not alone in our efforts, but that there are dedicated partners standing with us in serving and improving the wellbeing of our community.

BIDII YETU FOR CHANGE (BYC), through its Livelihood and Permaculture Program, aims to promote food security within the community. Today, we have donated farming tools, a water tank, and seeds to community farmers to support their agricultural efforts and improve sustainable food production.
BYC is working closely with vulnerable women and community farmers to ensure they can generate income and better support their families through this program. We believe that empowering local farmers is a key step toward reducing poverty and strengthening community resilience.
