Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Christian Baobab and Cleo polliger an academic advisor from Parami University, for a visit with our students. They came specifically to reconnect with our for Connected Learning Initiatives students who have earned scholarships at Parami.

Beyond the scholarship holders, Christian and Cleo also took the time to introduce Parami University to the rest of our student community, sharing insights into the programmes, culture, and opportunities the university has to offer.

Moments like these remind us why partnerships between educational institutions and student hubs matter so much. We are proud of every student who is making bold steps toward their future.

We are proud to celebrate the graduation of our latest cohort from the Peacebuilding and Social Entrepreneurship under Amala Education Program.

Last Friday marked more than just the end of a course, it was the beginning of a new chapter for a group of passionate changemakers ready to serve their communities.

Throughout the program, participants showed strong commitment and real growth in three key areas:
• Leadership – building the confidence to lead with purpose and integrity
• Peacebuilding – gaining practical tools to promote dialogue, reconciliation, and lasting peace
• Social Innovation – designing solutions that are sustainable and community-driven

This milestone reflects their hard work, resilience, and vision. It has been a privilege to walk alongside them on this journey.

We are excited to see the impact they will create in their communities and beyond.

Congratulations to the graduating class, the world truly needs your leadership now more than ever.

We had a really meaningful meeting today with students through our partnership with for Connected Learning Initiatives.

We took time to reflect on how students are doing academically, talked honestly about the challenges they face when coming to our center, and shared ideas on how to keep students more engaged outside the classroom.

Some of the great suggestions that came up were:

1.Adding sports activities to support wellbeing and teamwork
2.Organizing peace-writing competitions about our communities
3.Creating more cultural activities to help students connect and learn from each other

These moments of listening to students really matter. Education is not only about books and exams, it’s also about building confidence, friendships, leadership, and hope.

As we reach the midpoint of our courses partnering with Amala Education on and , we would like to share the amazing achievements our students are making. Although some of their stories come with setbacks, their commitment and passion are truly inspiring.

Here's what's been happening:

students have been consistent and active in attending. As a result many are out practicing what they are learning, coming on-site and putting their conflict resolution skills into positive use in their communities. One student, who is one of our block leaders locally, testified to the change this class has brought into his way of handling conflicts in his community.

With , students are embracing the power of community awareness and entrepreneurial thinking. We have seen innovative projects, such as a crochet training program empowering women to improve their livelihoods.

Not only they benefit from the above skills, but as we are on digital era, some of our students came in struggling with digital tools especially Google Classroom they use, but their progress regarding digital skills is impressive now. Most of the students are confidently participating online and peer-to-peer support ensures that problems regarding technology are solved.

We look forward to the second half of this course and continuing to see the impact these amazing students have.

Despite the heavy rains that made roads nearly impassable today, we are successful in administering the Higher Education Access Program (RhEAP) placement test at our Center. Weather conditions may have been rough, but our commitment to empowering young people through education kept us going.

The , a 10–12 month preparatory program co-sponsored by Bard College Berlin, A Liberal Arts University and BRAC University, is a precious opportunity for our community students to transition into higher education. They will learn crucial skills in academic English, critical thinking, digital literacy, and beyond.

At URISE Initiative for Africa, we're driven to create windows of possibilities for the young people in marginalized societies, and today is yet another marker towards that dream. We're so grateful to our friends at OSUN and the Hubs for Connected Learning Initiatives for their continued commitment towards making this initiative a success.

Rain or shine, we pushed through because the future of these young people is worth it.

As a community, we recently conducted an impactful peace education sessions in Kakuma focused on drug and substance abuse prevention.

What made this session truly special was the active participation of the learners at the -El-Naam Primary girl school. They engaged in hands-on activities, learned essential conflict resolution skills, and pledged to contribute to a peaceful coexistence in their community.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀:

Youth empowerment and substance abuse prevention
Establishing and sustaining peace clubs
Teachers and students as peace ambassadors

The learners left the sessions not just with knowledge, but a shared commitment to spread peace and support each other in making positive choices. We are proud of their enthusiasm and readiness to make a real difference in Kakuma.
