Every great leader starts somewhere. At the beginning of our and Entrepreneurship Programme that we deliver in partnership with Amala Education , many learners were hesitant to speak, share ideas, or lead discussions.

Ten weeks later, they stood confidently before facilitators, peers, and community leaders to present innovative solutions to real challenges facing Kakuma.

Through interactive learning, teamwork, mentorship, and practical projects, participants developed confidence in public speaking, leadership, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making. They discovered that leadership is not about titles,it's about serving others, building peace, and creating positive change.

Today, they leave not only as graduates but as confident peacebuilders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers ready to make a difference in their communities.

Confidence changes lives. Education unlocks potential. Leadership transforms communities.

Yesterday, we were honoured to join UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in Kakuma Municipality to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention under the theme: "Protecting Rights, Enabling Inclusion, Advancing Solutions."

The celebration brought together diverse voices from the refugee and host communities, with inspiring personal stories and vibrant multicultural performances that showcased the rich diversity and resilience that make Kakuma truly unique.

At URISE Initiative for africa, we remain committed to fostering peaceful and inclusive communities by strengthening social cohesion, empowering individuals through transformative learning opportunities, and creating pathways for refugees and host communities to thrive together.

Together, we can continue building a future where everyone has the opportunity to belong, contribute, and succeed.

Last Friday, we had great presentations where students from our Building and Entrepreneurship courses, delivered in partnership with Amala Education, presented their final projects.

The presentations provided a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their ideas, learn from one another, strengthen their presentation skills, and receive constructive feedback from the review panel.

We are inspired by the creativity, innovation, and commitment demonstrated by every participant. We congratulate all our students on reaching this milestone and wish them every success as they bring their projects to life and create positive impact within their communities.

Beginning the Month with Community Engagement 🀝
We kicked off the month with a meaningful community engagement session under our ongoing Building Safer Community project in Kakuma 1.
The session brought together Zone Leaders, Block Leaders, community security representatives, and other local leaders to discuss practical ways of strengthening peace, safety, and security in Kakuma 1. Through open dialogue, participants identified key security concerns and explored collaborative solutions for building a safer community for all.
We were honored to host representatives from Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK), DRS, and the Kenya Police Service, whose valuable contributions reinforced the importance of partnership and collective action in promoting community safety.
At URISE Initiative for Africa, we remain committed to working alongside communities and partners to create safer, more peaceful, and resilient communities.
Together, we are building a safer communityβ€”one conversation, one partnership, and one action at a time.
