Hope care for Orphans and vulnerable children (Hope community School) is a non-governmental organisation and a pre-primary school for vulnerable children aged 1 to 9 in Limuru, Kenya. The school was opened in 2007, with the aim to care for orphaned and vulnerable children in our region. At the beginning we only had five kids as students - currently we have 70 students that are all facing difficult
social positions:
- single parents with partial orphans
- guardian homes with total orphans
- street children
- single parent home where poverty is extreme
- children who are infected with HIV/AIDS
- homes with children with disabilities
- places where a child is in need of assistance
Since 2016 we've been registered as a non-governmental organisation called "Hand of Hope Initiative". GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
With our work we intend to alleviate poverty and improve access to quality education and health care as well as mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS among vulnerable children. Specific objectives are:
- to provide school fees and other learning materials that are necessary for improving the lives of the needy and vulnerable children
- to provide basic needs for the poor and vulnerable children in the community (e.g. starting feeding program for children)
- to use all legal means that are necessary to enhance the communities, to use limited resources and facilities to strengthen and develop children's talents and activities
- to acquire land and property rights (by purchase, exchange, lease or otherwise) that are essential in promoting the development activities from which the needy children will benefit; and also to build a children's home for them
- to cater for health care of vulnerable children by paying the hospital bills of the needy ones
- to create awareness on the impact of HIV/AIDS through training and community sensitization programs
- to carry out activities that are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the above objectives
