The New Leaf Centre is a community-based organization (CBO) in Lamu that was formed with a view to addressing the use of hard drugs as one of the main problems confronting the Lamu County today, especially the youth. Incidences of drug and related anti-social behavior have tremendously increased in recent years. These have been major concerns for the society. The Centre is committed to the campaig
n against these menaces. The Centre is composed of ten (10) members and has a constitution that guides the group’s operations. It is a non-political, non-profit making and non-partisan organization based in Lamu Island in Lamu District, Lamu County and registered with the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Services, No: SS/LM/CBO/AMU/VOL.II/072. The organization’s major focus is to provide counseling, rehabilitation through in-house, safe detox methods and therapeutic programme of recovery and to promote abstinence-based recovery to the drug users (clients). Our programme is to provide clients with a private, confidential and safe environment. The clients will have the opportunity to identify the changes they have to make in themselves and in their environment to enable them to maintain sobriety and progress in their recovery.
