Over the next two months, Ubuntu Nexus will be in Korogocho 🔵✨

25 young people.
4 sessions.
Real conversations about the information we see, hear, and share every day. 💬

Because misinformation is not just about what is false, it is about how information moves.
Through WhatsApp groups 📱
Through friends 👥
Through people we trust 🤝

And most of the time, we don’t even stop to question it. 🤔

Ukweli Mtaani is about changing that.
Learning to question. To verify. And to act. ⚡

We are also excited to have our media partner🎥, , join us for this project.

Stay Tuned! 💃🥳

From our dialogue on “Stop Selling Your Data for Free”, one thing is clear: we are sharing more than we realize, and often without intention💡

As digital spaces become part of everyday life, understanding how our data is collected and used is no longer optional. It is essential. ✅

The conversation highlighted the need for awareness, intentional choices, and collective responsibility in protecting our data.📊

Because data privacy is not just personal, it affects all of us.

Be on the lookout for our next dialogue later this month 📌

Our Research Lead, Benjamin Kitonga, represented Ubuntu Nexus at the Global Democracy Coalition’s Africa Regional Forum hosted by Youth for SDGs Kenya and Nuru Trust Network, joining youth leaders, civil society actors, and governance experts to discuss the state of democracy in Africa 🗣️✨

Key discussions highlighted the growing frustration among youth in countries like Burkina Faso, Chad, and Gabon, where weak governance and corruption are eroding trust in democratic systems ⚖️

The takeaway? Strong institutions, independent judiciaries, and accountable systems are critical to sustaining democracy.

🇰🇪 Kenya’s annulled presidential election was cited as a powerful example of institutional accountability in action ✅

The forum reinforced that elections are a process, not a single event.
🗳️ Free pre-election environments, transparent voting, and credible post-election dispute resolution are essential for legitimacy. Solutions also emerged ranging from strengthening civic education 📚, improving political literacy 🧠, and creating inclusive spaces for youth participation 🤝

The outcome of the forum was a renewed commitment to youth leadership 💪 and a roadmap towards digital resilience 🌐 and democratic accountability.

Africa’s democratic future depends not just on individuals, but on institutions that truly serve the people. 🏛️💡

Key takeaways from today’s dialogue: Stop Selling Your Data for Free.

We give away more than we realize often without intention.

Today’s conversation was a reminder that:
• Your data has value
• Consent should be informed, not automatic
• Small actions can protect you online

From reviewing app permissions to thinking twice before clicking “I agree,” digital safety starts with everyday choices.

Protect your data. Protect each other.

Why are we so angry online?
Because what we carry offline doesn’t disappear, it shows up, amplified.
This conversation challenged us to pause, reflect, and bring back Ubuntu: I am because we are.

What we call young people matters.

A label can follow them longer than the mistake ever does, shaping how they are seen, treated, and ultimately how they see themselves.

In many communities, a single word like “thief” can close doors to education, trust, and opportunity. Over time, that label risks becoming identity.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

This article explores how labeling shapes behaviour, and why shifting from stigma to support is critical for justice, rehabilitation, and inclusion.
