From Water to Food Security: The Bidii Joint Women Group.

At Bidii Joint Women Group in Kauwi, Kitui West, water is becoming more than just a basic necessity, it is a foundation for resilience and improved livelihoods.

With support from The Brooke East Africa and Caritas Kitui, the group is putting water to productive use through vegetable growing, while also meeting essential domestic needs.

The water project has opened new opportunities for the women, helping them grow nutritious vegetables, strengthen household food security, generate income and reduce the burden associated with accessing water.

What stands out is how a reliable water source can transform lives beyond the tap, turning water into food, income, dignity and hope.

When communities have access to water, they have a foundation to thrive.

KENYA MUSIC FESTIVAL (KMF) 2026

The Kenya Music Festival (KMF) 2026 National Level Competitions held in Kibabii University in Bungoma County are still going on.

Kiviu Primary Donkey Care Club (DCC) pupils from Mutomo Sub county in Kitui County, who were the sole representatives of DCC Schools at the KMF 2026 (National level) emerged position 3 under class 2137H- a Kiswahili choral verse on donkey welfare.

They were proudly sponsored by Caritas Kitui through The Brooke East Africa .

Hearty Congratulations to the school on this remarkable achievement.

SOLEMN VESPERS

The Catholic Diocese of Kitui will hold Solemn Vespers on Friday, 7th August 2026, at Our Lady of Africa Cathedral, Kitui, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The celebration will be presided over by the Most Rev. Philip Anyolo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Nairobi.

SOLEMN VESPERS

As part of the Episcopal pre-ordination preparation for Msgr. John Mbua Mwandi, Bishop-Elect of the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, the Diocese will hold Solemn Vespers on Friday, 7th August 2026, at Our Lady of Africa Cathedral, Kitui, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The celebration will be presided over by the Most Rev. Philip Anyolo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Nairobi.

Vespers, also known as Evening Prayer, is one of the principal Hours of the Liturgy of the Hours, the Church's official daily prayer. It is a solemn liturgical celebration in which the faithful gather at the close of the day to pray the Psalms, listen to the Word of God, offer intercessions, and proclaim the Magnificat (the Canticle of Mary). On the eve of an episcopal ordination, Solemn Vespers unites the diocesan community in prayer for the Bishop-Elect as he prepares to receive the fullness of the Sacred Orders.

During the Vespers, the Bishop-Elect will make and sign the Profession of Faith and take an Oath of Fidelity which is taken before assuming any public office in the Church. Additionally, his episcopal vestments and insignia, including the Mitre, Zucchetto, Episcopal Ring, Crozier (Pastoral Staff), Pectoral Cross, and Chasuble, together with other pontifical items to be used during the Episcopal Ordination, will be blessed.

All are warmly invited to participate in this solemn celebration of prayer as the Diocese prepares for the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-Elect Msgr. John Mbua Mwandi.

The Caritas Kitui CPD Workshop 2026 has successfully come to a close!

Held on 4th–5th August 2026 at the Kitui Pastoral Centre Conference,the workshop brought together dedicated animal health practitioners for two days of learning, professional growth, and collaboration aimed at strengthening veterinary practice and promoting animal welfare.

Participants engaged in insightful sessions covering:
• Clinical Management of Equine Sarcoids
• Veterinary Nursing in Sarcoid Management
• Donkey Hide Trade• Bovine Papillomavirus II
• Emerging Trends in Veterinary Nursing
• Bovine Papillomatosis & Pregnancy Test Kits
• Poultry Nutrition
• Management of Metabolic Diseases in Cattle
• Collaboration, Partnerships & Veterinary Competency

The workshop also reinforced key professional principles:
✔ Proper field diagnosis of diseases
✔ Appropriate use of laboratory services for confirmatory diagnosis
✔ Being ambassadors for animal welfare and protection
✔ Remaining passionate and committed to the veterinary profession
