https://kitui.go.ke/storage/2026/08/CGoKTI-KITUI-DRAFT-COUNTY-ANNUAL-DEVELOPMENT-PLAN-FY-2027-28-For-public-comments.pdf

The County Government of Kitui has invited citizens, civil society actors, private sector, state agencies and other stakeholders to submit written comments, views, memoranda and proposals on the Annual Development Plan (ADP) for FY 2027/2028 by 25 August 2026.

This is more than an invitation it is an opportunity to influence priorities, projects and programmes that will shape services in our communities.

If you don’t participate in decisions that affect your everyday life, someone else will make those decisions on your behalf often based on assumptions about what you need.

Meaningful participation means more than attending meetings. It means accessing information, asking questions, challenging priorities, proposing alternatives and demanding feedback.

Participation is not a favour from government; it is a constitutional right and a civic duty.

Don’t complain about tomorrow’s priorities when you had an opportunity to shape them today.

Read. Question. Submit. Participate. Be counted.

If you are a woman planning to vie for MCA, Woman Representative, MP, Senator, Governor or President in 2027, or you know a woman who is considering running, encourage her to apply.

It’s a training opportunity by Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) designed to equip aspiring political leaders with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to effectively prepare for the 2027 elections and leadership.

If you know a woman who has the ambition to lead, share this opportunity with her.

KEWOPA is collecting basic information from women intending to vie in the 2027 General Elections. The data will be used for coordination, communication, mentorship, and program support and handled in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019. It will not be shared without your consent.

YOUR VOICE. YOUR BUDGET. YOUR FUTURE.

The Kitui County Assembly has invited members of the public to participate in the 2026/2027 County Budget Estimates Public Participation Forums across all eight sub counties from 6th to 10th July 2026.

This is more than just another meeting ,it is your constitutional right, civic duty and an opportunity to influence how your taxes are spent.

Every road that is constructed or left unfinished, every health facility that is equipped or neglected, every ECDE centre, water project, youth programme, agricultural initiative, bursary allocation and market development is determined by the county budget. If your priorities are not reflected in the budget, chances are they will not be funded.

Why should you participate?
✅ To ensure resources are allocated to the needs that matter most in your ward.
✅ To question and improve proposed budget allocations.
✅ To advocate for equitable distribution of resources across Kitui County.
✅ To hold leaders accountable for the promises they make.
✅ To make development decisions based on community priorities not assumptions.

What happens if citizens don’t participate?
❌ Decisions will be made without your input.
❌ Community priorities may be overlooked.
❌ Funds may be allocated to projects that do not address the most pressing needs.
❌ It becomes difficult to demand accountability for decisions you did not help shape.
❌ The opportunity to influence development for the next financial year is lost.

Meaningful public participation is not about attending to fill a register. It is about making informed submissions, asking questions, presenting evidence and ensuring the final budget reflects the real needs of Kitui residents.

If you are unable to attend physically, you can also submit a written memorandum or participate in the scheduled virtual forum as indicated in the County Assembly’s public notice.

Your silence is also a decision but one that allows others to decide your priorities for you.

Let us turn up, speak up, and shape a budget that works for all the people of Kitui.

Kitui Women in Development (KWID) was honored to be represented by our Executive Director, Ms. Faith Kiema, during the Financial Literacy and Women’s Economic Empowerment Training under the Strengthening Parliamentary Leadership for Transformative Action Phase II Program organized by KEWOPA and IPF.

At KWID, we strongly believe that an empowered woman is better positioned to actively and meaningfully participate in decision making spaces that directly impact her life, family and community. The mentorship and networking sessions offered rich opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and sharing experiences on the challenges and opportunities women continue to face in business and leadership.

As we continue championing women’s rights and economic inclusion in Kitui County and beyond we remain committed to building the capacity of women to thrive socially, economically and politically.

Indeed, failing to plan is planning to fail.
