KRCS Trans Nzoia’s 6 volunteers reached 379 residents at Chepchoina Centre, Endebess Sub County with Risk Communication and Community Engagement on Ebola origins, signs, prevention and response. IEC toolkits and emergency hotlines were shared with traders, youths and motorists.

Community feedback called for more masks, literature, and stronger health screenings at Suam One Stop Border Post plus unofficial panya routes to stop bypassing of border controls. Resilience starts with action.

KRCS Trans Nzoia Holds Ebola Sensitization at Kiminini Market

With Trans Nzoia classified as high risk due to cross border traffic, KRCS Trans Nzoia volunteers engaged 547 residents at Kiminini Market on Ebola signs, prevention and response.

LEGO Therapy Restores Safety at Kitale Transit Centre

Bricks became bridges to healing as KRCS Trans Nzoia used LEGO play therapy to help children at Kitale Transit Centre feel safe again.

The session reached 9 children aged 2 to 13 years and 5 caregivers. Through creative building and storytelling, children expressed emotions, made friends and learned positive coping skills. Caregivers learned how structured play supports emotional wellbeing and child development.

The session strengthened psychosocial stability, built resilience and restored a sense of safety for displaced families.

Frontline Activated: Hospital Ward Becomes Ebola Watch Post

Hospital Ward Showground turned into Trans Nzoia’s early warning post as KRCS Trans Nzoia trained 379 people to spot and stop Ebola before it spreads.

The KRCS Trans Nzoia team reached vendors, taxi drivers and boda boda riders. They learned Ebola origins, signs, symptoms and prevention. Teams cleared myths, shared Ministry of Health and KRCS emergency hotlines and gave out information materials.

To keep defenses strong, the community asked for masks, more materials and follow up sessions.

‎KRCS Trans Nzoia Turns Kitale Transit Center Into a Germ Free Zone

‎ Germs didn’t stand a chance. Kenya Red Cross Trans Nzoia public health team stormed Kitale Transit Center for a full environmental sanitation operation to break infection chains.

‎The team scrubbed all high touch surfaces including door handles, railings and communal benches. They followed with precise chlorine disinfection and space wide fumigation to wipe out hidden pathogens.

‎This integrated clean up cut cross contamination risks and made the center safer for persons of concern, volunteers and staff.

‎KRCS Trans Nzoia Takes Ebola Education to Seeds High School

‎Seeds High School turned into a classroom for survival as Kenya Red Cross Trans Nzoia engaged 102 students on Ebola prevention and safety.

‎The session reached 62 girls and 40 boys with clear lessons on Ebola origins, symptoms, transmission and prevention. Facilitators also demonstrated proper handwashing and shared information materials for reference.

‎Students got interactive through Q&A and were invited to join the upcoming Grassroots First Aid Competition. The day closed with energy as KRCS Tz Branch FC beat Seeds High FC 6 to 3 in a friendly match.

‎The school patron welcomed the intervention and requested more collaborative sessions with KRCS.

KRCS Trans Nzoia on High Alert at Kitale Transit Center

Kitale Transit Center became a frontline for health security as Kenya Red Cross Trans Nzoia screened 15 newly arrived persons of concern for Ebola risk and provided psychosocial support.

‎Teams traced travel history and educated arrivals on EVD symptoms and prevention. KRCS mental health specialists also offered Psychological First Aid to ease stress from displacement.

‎The integrated response strengthens EVD preparedness while restoring dignity and comfort to vulnerable individuals during transit.

Kenya Red Cross Trans Nzoia joined hands with Giving Hope to the Hopeless, government agencies, schools and local foundations to launch a menstrual health campaign at Worldwide Christian Outreach Ministries Church in Sirende Ward.

‎The session reached 213 people including 76 men, 137 women and 113 schoolgirls. The team gave practical education on menstrual hygiene, live demos on using and caring for reusable pads, and distributed products to beneficiaries.

‎KRCS also used the platform to sensitize the community on Ebola prevention, sharing symptoms, safety steps and MoH plus KRCS emergency hotlines for quick response.

‎The day ended with partner commitments, KRCS membership registration and a tree planting ceremony as a sign of growth and hope for the community.
