KRCS Trans-Nzoia Equips 211 People Ahead of Ebola Threat.(12/8/2026)

Before fear spreads, facts must. On Tuesday, KRCS moved fast, from county offices to All Saints, to put Ebola prevention in the hands of those who serve the public daily.

The Kenya Red Cross Trans-Nzoia County Branch conducted Ebola Virus Disease preparedness sensitizations reaching 211 people.

The sessions engaged 150 county enforcement officers and 61community members including boda boda riders, business owners, youth and persons with disabilities.

Discussions covered symptoms, prevention, handwashing, myth-busting, early detection, Ministry of Health reporting channels, and KRCS toll-free lines.

Participants requested more sessions. Enforcement officers asked for protective gloves, IEC materials, and a feedback box to support daily operations.

KRCS Trans-Nzoia Stands With Staff in Goseta Send-Off

Grief met dignity on Monday as Kenya Red Cross Trans-Nzoia County Branch was there not just to mourn, but to serve as they joined the family of Joseph Gichimu, Kalobeyei Refugee Operations staff member, for his mother's send-off ceremony in Goseta Village.

The team provided first aid coverage, MHPSS support, and crowd control during the body viewing. They also distributed refreshments and eulogy booklets, and ended with a compound cleanup and plastic waste collection.

The bereaved family expressed deep gratitude for the team's selfless assistance and unwavering support.

Trans-Nzoia KRCS Maps Gaps in 2-Day BOCA 2.0 Workshop -7/8/2026

Twelve branch leaders spent two days reviewing how KRCS Trans-Nzoia delivers services.

Today, the Kenya Red Cross Trans-Nzoia County Branch held a BOCA 2.0 Workshop at Westside Hotel. 12 participants (5F, 7M) including staff, board, volunteers and regional reps assessed 11 core areas* and 35 attributes.

Focus areas included visibility, governance, volunteering, resource mobilization, and service delivery. The assessment identified key gaps and set action plans to strengthen operations.

The Branch Chairman pledged to address all priorities before the next review.

Men’s Talk: 21 Leaders in Kitale Focus on Character, Mental Health & Service

The conversation around the table wasn’t about power, it was about purpose.
Men from different walks of life gathered to talk leadership, healing, and how to show up better at home and in community.

The Kenya Red Cross Society Trans-Nzoia County Branch convened an impactful men's talk at the branch office, led by ACK Kitale Diocese Rev. Hillary Odhiambo.

The session brought together 21 participants including 7 asylum seekers, 8 volunteers, and 6 members. Discussions covered KRCS dissemination, mental health, KSL relationships, fatherhood, brotherhood, and financial literacy.

Key takeaways emphasized principled leadership rooted in character, virtues, and servant leadership, drawing from Barack Obama’s philosophy of serving community interests. Facilitators urged participants to combat stigma by speaking up and to complement and support empowered women.

Closing with Philippians 4:6 and prayer, facilitators thanked KRCS management, the board, and volunteers for their dedication, reminding them that service will be rewarded. They also encouraged the Persons of Concern present to maintain their commendable discipline.

Attendees warmly requested follow up sessions.

Day 2 Complete: KRCS Reaches 63 More Court Users with Ebola Vigilance Message.

If Day 1 was about awareness, Day 2 was about action.

Inside the courtrooms, the conversation shifted from legal briefs to health briefs as frontline court staff and legal teams paused to learn how to spot and stop Ebola.

The KRCS team briefed participants on the regional Bundibugyo Virus Disease (BVD) context, symptoms, transmission routes, and infection prevention. Emphasis was placed on vigilance, hand hygiene, and early reporting through MoH and KRCS hotlines.

After an interactive Q&A, participants appreciated the initiative and requested more sensitization sessions to strengthen public health safety within the courts.

Justice Meets Health: KRCS Sensitizes 57 Court Users on Ebola Preparedness.

In a place where justice is served, KRCS delivered a different kind of servic, life saving information.

The Kenya Red Cross Society, Trans Nzoia County Branch, conducted an Ebola Virus Disease sensitization session at Kitale Law Courts, reaching 57 participants (21M, 36F).

The session opened with KRCS core mandates, followed by briefings on EVD transmission, symptoms, and key prevention measures. Facilitators highlighted the Red Cross auxiliary role in health, stressed community involvement in early detection, and promoted emergency reporting through official MoH and KRCS toll-free helplines.

An interactive Q&A followed, and the session closed with collection of community feedback.

KRCS Trans Nzoia Aligns Team on VMMS, DRM Act and Charity Golf Ahead

The Kenya Red Cross Society, Trans-Nzoia County Branch, brought its team together to get on one page.

Led by the County Coordinator, the 10 staff convened for a strategic alignment session. Key agenda items included VMMS deployment, the DRM Act, core support operations, and preparations for the upcoming Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

The CC emphasized strict volunteer onboarding protocols: full documentation and mandatory training before enrolment. She urged operational compliance using approved ToRs, Advance ERP, and TRFs.

Following an interactive Q&A, she commended the team’s dedication and called for continued unity across all branch programs. The meeting concluded with a word of prayer.

Youth Power Unites: KRCS Trans Nzoia Holds Team Building.

It wasn’t just games and laughter. It was 23 young people building trust, skills, and a plan to serve better.

The Kenya Red Cross Society, Trans-Nzoia County Branch, alongside regional leadership, hosted a dynamic team-building session themed “Uniting Youth Power for Resilient Community” at Kitale Conservancy, Ndura Park.

The event brought together 23 participants for icebreakers, sports, boat riding, environmental clean-ups, PFA, and reflective storytelling.

The Head of Region commended volunteers for their exceptional performance in first aid competitions. He challenged youth members to pitch sustainable income-generating proposals to set a local resource mobilization benchmark, and announced plans for a future regional retreat outside the North Rift.

Volunteers expressed gratitude to the board and management for their unwavering support.

321 Reached in Church, 415 Screened at Border as KRCS Intensifies Ebola Fight

The message went from the pulpit to the pews, and from the border to every home.

The Kenya Red Cross Society, Trans Nzoia County Branch, held targeted EVD Risk Communication and Community Engagement sessions at Best Living SDA Church in Lukhuna as part of ongoing community preparedness.

The session reached 321 people: 199 adults (112F, 87M)and 122 children under five (69F, 53M). KRCVs trained participants on Ebola causes, transmission, signs, symptom nis, and prevention, with emphasis on hygiene and sanitation at household level. EVD posters were distributed for lasting impact.

Church leaders were urged to keep reinforcing hygiene messages and to report any unusual illnesses via MOH and KRCS toll free lines.

In parallel at Suam Point of Entry, 415 travelers (278M, 137F) were screened in the last 24 hours.
