As we continue our Su***de Prevention Awareness Month advocacy, we’re reminded that understanding the root causes matters—but so does creating spaces where people can pause, connect and care for their wellbeing.

Through our partnership with Sapphire Kenya and Better Me Kenya, we engaged firefighters and city inspectorate staff through the Wheels of Life session, using reflection, connection and wellness to support those who spend their days serving our communities.

Prevention starts with awareness. Wellness starts with taking care of ourselves and each other.

Women’s empowerment is also about access to opportunities, skills and financing that can turn ideas into income.

Through our partnership with Sapphire Kenya and Better Me Kenya, we had the opportunity to engage women in Kisumu County involved in the chicken business, sharing experiences, exploring opportunities and strengthening their journey toward greater economic independence.

When women have the support to grow, families and communities grow with them. ❤️

In partnership with LakeSide Adventure Community CAPTURE1 MOTION STUDIOS the official Photography Partner for Kisumu Tourism Fiesta Week, happening 21–27 September 2026 at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Ground.

This year’s theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” speaks directly to our work on digital literacy, online safety and responsible digital engagement.

As Kisumu embraces technology to tell its story and grow tourism, let’s also make sure people, especially young people, can navigate these spaces safely, confidently and responsibly.

Kisumu My Pride. Digital Safety Our Responsibility.

Yesterday, Jijenge Centre for Social Development convened a women’s engagement on hope, resilience and navigating disappointment, facilitated by our Women & Socio-Economic Expert, .

We reflected on the power of accepting finite disappointments while holding on to infinite hope. Resilience is choosing to rise, adapt and keep moving forward even when life doesn’t go as planned.

Jijenge joined 20 grassroots CSOs, youth networks, human rights defenders and civic actors in Kisumu for a CivicWatch Project roundtable on emerging civic-space and digital-rights issues convened by .
The dialogue created space to share concerns, reflect on developments such as the Kenya Information and Communications (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and identify opportunities for coordinated advocacy.
For Jijenge, protecting civic space means building informed, connected and resilient communities where everyone can speak, organise, participate and advocate safely.

Disability inclusion is more than access, it is about dignity, equal participation, and ensuring that every person has the opportunity to contribute, lead, and thrive.

During the Disability Pride Month Awareness Walk through Kakamega Town and the Advocacy Forum at Kakamega School for the Deaf, learners, organizations, government representatives, and community members came together to celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes, and reaffirm a shared commitment to building inclusive communities where everyone belongs.

As we mark Disability Pride Month, let us move beyond awareness and take meaningful action to promote accessibility, amplify the voices of persons with disabilities, and create opportunities for all.

Today, the team came together for our Monday Reset, a dedicated space to check in on our well-being, reflect on our experiences, challenge our thinking, and intentionally prepare for the week ahead. Through honest conversations, thought-provoking discussions, and personal reflections, we reinforced the importance of creating safe spaces where every team member feels heard, supported, and inspired. As a youth-led organization, we believe that caring for our people is essential to creating lasting impact in the communities we serve.
