MEN AGAINST AIDS YOUTH GROUP (MAAYGO) is a youth-lead organization whose leaders and members identify as gay, bis*xual, men having s*x with men (MSM), male s*x workers (MSW), and transgender persons who might be affected by HIV/AIDS. The organization has been operating in Kisumu County since 2008, and has reached at least 3000 gay and bis*xual men, MSM, MSW, and youth at risk or living with HIV/AI
DS. MAAYGO has conducted HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, moonlight testing, and STI screening and treatment targeting targeting such populations, and has referred over 650 of them for treatment, care and support.
270 gay and bis*xual men, MSM , MSW, and transgender persons living with HIV/AIDS have undergone a training on positive health, dignity, and prevention (PHDP). The organization has also provided entrepreneurship and employability training and soft-loans as start-up capitals to 30 impoverished GMTs (gay and bis*xual men, MSM, MSW, transgender persons) living with HIV to increase economic viability and skills, to reduce prevalence/incidence of HIV, and increase the adherence rates. MAAYGO also successfully started an income generation project and increased their monthly income by at least 30%. MAAYGO seeks to partner with other organizations and resource providers locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to achieve its goal of increasing access to comprehensive health care services among gay and bis*xual men, transgender persons, and the MSW & MSM community by 70% in Kisumu county.
