On 9th April 2026, we had the pleasure of facilitating an engaging session in partnership with GIZ Siemens Stiftung, Seedstars under the LOT #29 EV Batteries Circularity.

The session provided a platform for the Ventures for the LOT #29 incubation , , and that we have been supporting to showcase their forward-thinking solutions, got a platform to seek clear ask from the stakeholder from the room to help them with growth for the next 3 months as they reflected and gathered strategic feedback to accelerate their next stage of development.

It was inspiring to see the creativity, passion, and commitment these entrepreneurs bring to advancing sustainable mobility and shaping Kenya’s transition toward a cleaner and more efficient transport future. The future of e-mobility in Kenya looks bright!

A big thank you GIZ and Seedstars for the partnership and to all the startups for their energy and openness to learning.

The cocreation led by in Eldoret was a success. In partnership with through the -SEED Project and with ( ), Box Innovation Center, ( , Murugi , ), ( M. ), .hubke ( Adhiambo, Odera) as our hosts, we have brought together a dynamic mix of universities, innovation hubs, and enterprise support institutions all contributing to the design of an inclusive entrepreneurship curriculum.

We had participation from (. Mercy Murrey), ( Gloria Tuwei), ( Oyugi), ( Kym), - Kogo. From business foundations and financial literacy to digital skills, resilience, and sustainability, the focus remained clear: entrepreneurs need more than theory. They need relevant, accessible, and experience-driven support systems that reflect real challenges and opportunities.

As we move into validation, we're refining and testing these insights to make sure they become tools that support entrepreneurs on the ground.

This week in Nakuru, we are not just talking about change, we are building it.

In partnership with SNV through the IYBA-SEED Project and with Nakuru Box (@ , Murugi , ), EldoHub ( ,), ( M. ), .hubke ( Adhiambo Caroline Odera) as our hosts, we have brought together a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders to co-create an inclusive entrepreneurship curriculum.

Participants from Kabarak University ( Dr.Faith Yator), .tech.space (Patrick Mwai), (Wilson Karimi , Agrisolution (Mwangi Lenah Waithira ), and ( Muturi ) have contributed critical local insight grounding the process in real, lived experiences.

The cocreation is led by Impact Gateway Africa. On Tuesday, we focused on collaborative co-creation, moving beyond theory into practical, context-driven design.

Wednesday we deep-dived into the key building themes of entrepreneurial success:
Business Foundations, Financial Literacy & Management, Marketing & Sales, Operations & Growth, Digital Skills, Resilience, Formalisation, and Sustainability.

What stood out throughout is that meaningful impact comes from designing with communities, not for them.

This we believe is how local insight is transformed into tools, opportunities, and pathways for sustainable economic growth. #

Startups rarely scale alone.

Behind every successful venture is a network of mentors, partners, investors, and ecosystem builders working together to unlock growth.

Collaboration is what turns good ideas into scalable businesses.

When founders, institutions, and investors align:
✅ Innovation accelerates
✅ Ventures grow faster
✅ Ecosystems become stronger

Africa’s venture future will not be built by individuals working alone,it will be built through intentional collaboration.

One of the hardest lessons African founders learn while scaling is this:
capital isn’t something you wait for. It should evolve as you evolve.

Your business will change.
Your market will shift.
Your strategy will mature.
And so your funding approach must mature too.

As a founder, you understand your journey better than anyone else. You carry the risk. That means you should be leading the funding conversation not reacting to it.

A fundamental rule to remember:
💡Fundraise when you don’t urgently need the money.
This gives you leverage, it gives you choice and it protects you from accepting misaligned or mediocre terms just to survive.

Capital should amplify a strong system not replace one.

This is where Impact Gateway comes in.
We work with founders early before capital becomes urgent to build the systems and clarity that make funding strategic, not reactive.

We believe that when systems are strong, capital doesn’t lead, it accelerates.

💡How are you currently thinking about funding in your startup journey?

Africa’s future won’t be built by scale alone.
It will be built by systems that allow ideas to grow.

Startups play a unique role in this equation:

• They turn local problems into scalable solutions
• They create jobs where traditional markets fall short
• They attract capital that strengthens entire ecosystems

When startups thrive, innovation compounds and growth becomes sustainable, not extractive.

Africa doesn’t need fewer ideas.
It needs stronger pathways for those ideas to scale.

What systems do you think Africa needs most right now?

13/02/2026

Many founders approach investors too early.

Before raising capital, it’s critical to:
-validate the problem and solution
– understand your financials
– demonstrate traction
– ensure the right structures are in place

Investment follows preparation, clarity, and ex*****on; not ideas alone.

Is Africa’s startup ecosystem slowing down or simply evolving?

While funding has tightened globally, African founders are shifting focus from rapid growth to sustainability, revenue, and real impact. We are seeing fewer vanity metrics and more emphasis on strong fundamentals governance, unit economics, and long-term value creation.

Some of the key signals shaping the ecosystem today:
• More capital flowing into early-stage and impact-driven ventures
• Stronger focus on local problems with scalable solutions
• Increased interest in Environmental Social Governance (ESG) aligned and climate-resilient businesses
• A growing role for policy, blended finance, and ecosystem enablers.

The opportunity now is not just about building unicorns it’s about building durable African enterprises that create jobs, strengthen local economies, and attract capital.
Africa’s startup story is far from over.
