Greetings ladies and gentlemen
Today KMPDU Nyanza honoured a call from JOOTRH administration on its inaugural CBA meeting.
In attendance was the Ag CEO Dr Joshua Okise, Director of Administration and Finance Mr Evans Oloo and Director of Nursing Ms Teresa Okiri for JOOTRH administration. Dr Onyango Ndonga KMPDU Nyanza 🪑, Dr Aggrey Orwenyo Secretary Nyanza branch, Dr Evans Sande Treasurer Nyanza branch, Dr Lucy Ombok CLO Kisumu and Elizabeth Oluga the Nyanza branch administrator.
RECOGNITION AGREEMENT AND CBA
It was agreed that within 4 weeks, we should have signed a recognition agreement with JOOTRH, making our engagement official with the new state parastatal. This will set the stage for CBA engagement as per parastatal peers. We already have a draft CBA based on KUTRH and KNH engagements.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
JOOTRH confirmed to have signed a deal with SHA public servants Comprehensive scheme for her staff. This should be operational within 7 working days.
SALARY ARREARS AND DELAYS.
JOOTRH has cleared salaries owed to our members in arrears. We also noted that for the first time in a long time, our members received their pay on time, a stark difference to when we would endure sufferance till mid of the month. We applaud these positive steps.
STATUTORY DEDUCTIONS AND LOANS
While JOOTRH has already started paying her staff, the full transition has not occurred yet. The hospital has paid net salaries to our members and advised them to make their payments individually, however, we implored on the county to return to the initial arrangements as signed between members and their banks. This will be regularized on full transition. (Note that this includes union dues.) For those who haven't done so individually, note that it might be recovered in arrears.
We want to thank all our members for the support and patience. We will endeavour to safeguard our welfare during this transition period.
God bless KMPDU.
Dr Onyango Ndonga
