Today, Nyalenda Young Turks CBO participated in a training session organised by Unitas, aimed at strengthening the capacity of various community groups.
The first training topic focused on Leadership and Governance. Participants were taken through the importance of developing and implementing clear legal policies to guide each group. The roles and responsibilities of group officials; Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and members were clearly explained and discussed.
The session also covered the qualities of a good leader and key principles of effective leadership, emphasising some as integrity, accountability, emotional intelligence, equity and problem solving.
Another important area of discussion was the importance of unity and collective responsibility within community groups considering gender equality. As highlighted during the session, “When we stand together, we rise together.”
The training was well received by the participants, who acknowledged its importance in strengthening their groups and enhancing effective leadership and governance. Members also expressed their commitment to putting the lessons learned into practice.
