Growing a Greener Future with Community Initiatives Support Services (CISS)

At Community Initiatives Support Services (CISS), we believe that restoring our environment begins at the community level. Through our Tree Nursery, Woodlot, and Community Tree Planting Initiative, we are taking practical steps toward building climate resilience and a healthier ecosystem.

Our initiative focuses on:
- Establishing community-based tree nurseries to ensure a steady supply of seedlings
- Developing woodlots to promote sustainable fuel and reduce pressure on natural forests
- Mobilizing communities for tree planting activities that restore degraded land and protect water sources
This work not only supports climate change resilience, but also contributes to livelihood creation, food security, and environmental conservation.
We are proud to work hand-in-hand with local communities—because lasting impact comes from shared responsibility and local ownership.

🌍 Together, we are planting more than trees—we are planting hope, sustainability, and a better future.

🤝 We welcome partners and supporters to join us in this journey.

Restoring River Nyamgun – A Community-Led Initiative

Community Initiatives Support Services (CISS), in partnership with Nelumbo e.V a charity organization, has taken a significant step toward restoring River Nyamgun in Seme Central Ward, Kisumu County.
Through a participatory, bottom-up approach, community members actively mapped climate risks, identified environmental hazards, and assessed the health of local water sources—laying a strong foundation for sustainable restoration.
The session was honored by Assistant Chief Mr. Maricus Odemba, who emphasized community ownership and pledged government support in ensuring the success of this initiative.
Together, we are building resilience, protecting our environment, and securing a sustainable future.
