On International Anti-Corruption Day, We appreciated the opportunity to contribute to a vital dialogue on Ramogi TV, hosted by the esteemed Joyce Oduor.
Our discussion focused on two pillars:
1. The Stark Human Cost: How corruption acts as a regressive tax on the poor, undermining social services, perpetuating inequality, and eroding trust in institutions.
2. The Multi-Stakeholder Solution: Effective anti-corruption requires a cohesive strategy engaging government, the judiciary, civil society, the media, and the private sector.
A compelling point of action we explored is leveraging market and social forces. When citizens, as ethical consumers, consciously decide to withhold patronage from enterprises associated with proceeds of corruption, they enact a powerful form of social and economic accountability. This "vote with your shilling" approach complements institutional reforms.
It was a reminder that building a culture of integrity is a collective project. Every sector has a role, and every conscious choice counts.
