YESAM attended and participated in a convening by COVAW of the Kisumu County Gender Sector Working Group under the Action for Paid Childcare Sector Transformation(ACT) Project, providing a space to reflect on lessons, share best practices, and assess progress in centralizing care work. During the session, Mr. Joel Okumu, Kisumu National Gender Director, called for the urgent domestication of a context-specific care policy, as his office carries out a situational analysis of unpaid care work. Kisumu CSOs are together strengthening policies that recognize and value childcare work in Kisumu. fans

MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.
At Kochieng' west chief's camp, Alendu - Kisumu county. YESAM attended and participated in a community engagement on expansion of community care banks , providing menstraul dignity kits for girls and women as the days moderator dubbling up as the MC.

This engagement, hosted by a community organization, was supported by FIK- feminists in Kenya ( Danish embassy) had a an objective of normalizing menstrual conversation across generations and identities which is to create awareness on period poverty and it's link to SGBV- sexual gender based violence and femicide.

The project will run for till next year in Kadibo sub county , the supporter will be providing the dignity kits on a monthly basis through the chief's office and community liaison.

FIDA-Kenya convened a high-level forum in Kisumu, bringing together state and non-state actors to assess the state of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and strengthen existing reporting networks in the county. The meeting also examined strategies for engaging men in promoting positive masculinities, shared responsibility, and partnerships that advance gender equality and help prevent SGBV. FIDA-Kenya Board representative for Western Region, Ms Phyllis Chepkemoi was also present in the meeting.

Bring part of an SRHR TWG ( sexual reproductive health technical working group) YESAM attended a convening that brought the ministry of health, director Mr. Frederick, public health, representatives from the county government of Kisumu, sub county SRH leads and Kisumu County partners together.

The objective of the meeting was mainly to share the emerging SRHR issues in the county and how best to tackle them,also we got feedback from partners about the just concluded world contraception day that was held on the 26 th, especially from the sub county SRH leads.

Other areas that were looked into were ,what has worked , best practices and worst practices, gaps/ challenges and areas of synergies.
We also got updates from Ms. Jane, the coordinator and Mr. Oyolla , who's is in charge of the SRH advocacy, ksm county on the progress of the SRH bill which has passed through the two drafts and now on the tables at the directors, Frederick docket for further actions.

Proposed way forward

- partners mapping before the next meeting that will be hosted by Care Kenya ( dates TBC)- to strengthen stakeholders engagement
- intergation of youth friendly health services ( have a youth corner within the youth friendly facilities within the sub counties
- GBV data , come up with strategies on how to curb underreporting
- create awareness of the GBV standard county reporting tool

Next steps

-The TWG will work with YESAM to identify youth SRH champions to be integrated on the youth SRH interventions. In line with the youth corner geared towards SRH.

With support from TICAH ,YESAM organized an Intergenerational Dialogue to demystify some of the myths and misconceptions around Comprehensive Sexuality Education . We also took this opportunity to share with the community members about the ongoing policy process of Reproductive Health care bill and how they can participate.
