Kisumu Youth and Development Organization-CBO (KYDF) is a registered Youth serving Organization based in Kisumu with 1210 affiliated Self-help Village Youth Groups (Bunges) across the County. The project came as a mitigation mechanism following the 2007/2008 Post Poll chaos in Kenya, in which young people across the nation played a central role as the perpetrators and foot soldiers of deviant poli
tical leaders in advancing the “perceived” political solution to the ensuing stalemate. Nyanza; and Kisumu in particular, was one of the worst hit regions during the violence. KYDF encourages the culture of self reliance amongst the youths as it exists to provide a platform that is socio-economically conducive; supporting their micro-entrepreneurial efforts to uplift their wellbeing besides promoting youth participation in governance and policy formulation at the two levels of Governments
