The network was started in early 2014 and registered as a Trust (Registration Number 2487) in September 2015, in the Republic of Kenya. EACR later transitioned to a national NGO under the regulatory authority of Kenya Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Coordination Board, and the NGO Act 1990, on 16th October 2023, NGO Registration Number OP.218/015/23-442/13327. The network currently brings together 27 active grassroots organizations spread across the 3 countries.
