We are participating in the 9th Reproductive Health Network Kenya Pan-African Scientific Conference, organized by Reproductive Health Network Kenya at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, Nyali, with our participation made possible by Dream Achievers Youth Organization Kenya and Hivos, under the Improving Youth Access to SRHR Project.

The conference is bringing together delegates from 44 African countries and beyond to share knowledge and best practices. Discussions are focused on strengthening interventions that advance Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for adolescents and young people.

This is fostering collaboration, innovation, and collective action to improve SRHR outcomes across Africa and globally.

Youth mental health is strengthened not only by reducing distress, but by fostering hope, belonging, and agency.

We participated in a workshop organized by IMMAGINABLE FUTURES that challenged crisis-driven approaches to youth mental health and introduced “rootedness” as a guiding principle.

Discussions explored culture and community, youth co-design, and new ways of measuring impact beyond symptoms. The rootedness framework aligns closely with TINADA’s community-based approach and offers insights for designing and sustaining youth mental health programs.

The workshop provided practical ideas for strengthening how youth mental health interventions are designed, measured, and sustained.

Strong data systems improve accountability, decision-making, and community health response.

Our field officers under the Community Case Management of Malaria project held a Quarterly Data Review Meeting at Munasio Dispensary with Muhonje B and Muhonje C Community Health Units (CHUs)

Discussions focused on tracking key indicators including malaria cases, immunization, ANC, family planning referrals, and defaulter tracing to strengthen performance monitoring and informed decision-making.
Community Health Promoters (CHPs) were sensitized on reporting tools, adherence to review meetings, and planning community dialogue days to improve inclusive engagement and reporting.

This strengthens data consistency, accountability, and coordination in community health service delivery.

Nearly 1 in 4 girls globally face challenges in managing menstruation with dignity due to limited access to safe products, information, and supportive facilities.

We participated in the annual Nyalenda Period Festival organized by Dreams Redefined Organization to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day under the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World.”

We engaged in conversations on menstrual hygiene management and period dignity, reinforcing our commitment to advancing menstrual health, breaking stigma, and promoting dignity, equity, and access to safe menstrual health information and services.

As a sub-recipient implementing Community Case Management of Malaria Project, we received a monitoring visit from Amref Health Africa in Kenya, providing a valuable opportunity for mentorship and technical support to our team.

It also created a platform for staff to reflect on implementation progress, identify capacity gaps, and highlight areas requiring further strengthening to enhance project delivery.

In addition, the engagement facilitated constructive feedback exchange between the two teams and enabled joint reflection on strategies to improve performance and ensure effective, high-quality implementation of community case management of malaria moving forward.

Strong community mental health systems are built through strategic partnerships and shared vision.”

We hosted a team from Shamiri Institute at our headquarters to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening community-based mental health programs in Kisumu.

The Shamiri team shared plans to expand mental health interventions and emphasized collaboration with local stakeholders to improve access to psychosocial support. TINADA highlighted ongoing community mental health initiatives, identified opportunities for joint programming, and initiated discussions toward developing an MOU.

This strengthens collaboration, coordinated programming, and access to community mental health support.
