Driving Impact Through Evidence: Insights from Western Kenya 🇰🇪:

Impact-RDO was honored to present findings from two key studies at the University of Nairobi STI/HIV Collaborative Meeting, held from 26–30 January 2026 at Serena Hotel.
Key takeaway:
Achieving sustainable HIV outcomes requires addressing the social and behavioral dynamics that shape human relationships.
🔹 GBV and HIV Risk among Men Who Purchase S*x: Our pilot study in Kisumu and Siaya Counties found strong links between GBV perpetration, HIV sero-positivity, and condomless sex—underscoring the need to integrate GBV prevention into HIV programs.
🔹 Safer Conception among Sero-Different Fisherfolk Couples: Research from Lake Victoria beach communities showed that sexual satisfaction, financial security, and feeling cared for are key drivers of motivation to use safer conception services. These findings are informing a new, couples-based intervention tailored to the lake region.

At Impact-RDO, we remain committed to data-driven, people-centered solutions. We thank the University of Nairobi and partners for the opportunity to share and learn together.

We remain grateful for the legacy left behind by our former CEO, the late Dr. Kawango Agot, and are optimistic about this new chapter. We deeply appreciate Dr. Ayallo’s steady leadership during the transition and look forward to the experience and vision Mr. Mathews brings as we continue advancing our mission and serving our communities with excellence.

💙 Remembering Dr. Kawango Agot 💙

One year ago, we lost a visionary leader, mentor, and friend. As Founder & CEO of IRDO, Dr. Agot dedicated her life to improving public health, advancing HIV prevention, and empowering young people—especially girls and women—to reclaim their futures.

Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment touched countless lives in Kenya and beyond. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in every life changed, every voice uplifted, and every barrier broken.

We continue the work she began, guided by her vision and inspired by her example. 🌍✨
