Healthy Soil, Resilient Communities!
Did you know that the fight against climate change and poverty starts right beneath our feet?
Grassroots women across sub-Saharan Africa (including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Uganda) are proving that protecting our soil is key to community resilience.
Here is how local communities are leading the charge:

Combating Soil Exhaustion: Frontline networks are tracking rapid soil depletion using advanced digital tools to map and protect vulnerable farmland.

Climate-Resilient Farming: By deploying technically trained grassroots farmers and mastering Pfumbvudza conservation techniques, local communities are optimizing agricultural yields even in the face of erratic rain grids.

Kitchen Gardens & Nutrition: Better soil means better food! Localized kitchen gardens are lowering preventable illnesses and boosting community well-being.
It’s time to shift the narrative. These amazing women are not just aid recipients they are the primary economic and ecological stabilizers of our nations!
Let’s protect our soil, secure our food, and support our grassroots leaders!

On this World Population Day, we are reminded of the deep interconnectedness between humanity and our shared environment. As our numbers grow, so does the pressure on the vital natural resources that sustain us from the food we eat and the clean water we drink, to the land we live on.
Our growing population calls for a deeper, collective commitment to protecting the Earth. By adopting smarter, more sustainable approaches to consumption and conservation, we can ease this demand and reduce pollution. Ultimately, safeguarding our planet's resources is how we foster the peace, health, and cohesion necessary for everyone, everywhere, to truly thrive.

Lake Victoria is facing a compounding ecological emergency. Recent data reveals an oxygen crisis, with nearly 40% of the lakebed currently lacking enough oxygen to support aquatic life. For the fishmongers—predominantly women who manage post-harvest sorting, drying, and trading the shrinking, juvenile catches shown in are a daily reality. Annual fish landings in Kenya have plummeted significantly over the last two decades, threatening the primary food security and income source for millions.
