Strengthening Partnerships for Meaningful Change!

On 10th September, Pamoja CBO had the privilege of hosting representatives from The Egmont Trust for an engaging visit focused on our work and the Girls Making Awesome Decisions (G-MAD) Project, implemented with their support.

The visit provided an opportunity for the team to engage with young mothers, who shared their experiences, aspirations, expectations, and achievements through the project. The team also visited our Economic Empowerment Hub (KTTI) and explored the various livelihood and economic empowerment activities supporting girls, young women and youth.

It was a valuable opportunity for reflection, learning and strengthening our partnership towards creating sustainable opportunities for young people.

And, of course, the visit would not have been complete without sharing some cake! 🎂😊

We sincerely appreciate The Egmont Trust for their continued partnership and commitment to empowering young people and strengthening communities.

Earlier today at Okore in Kisumu West Sub-County, ACT champion conducted community dialogue with Domestic childcare workers from Riat with continuous awareness on workplace SGBV, referral service, labour laws, decent work environments/conditions and basic financial management.

This evening our sensitization dialogue took place at Kosawo hall in Kisumu Central with domestic workers from Manyatta and Kondele estates. Through the ACT project, we continue to bring together domestic workers for peer to peer discussion on their right to decent working conditions, workplace SGBV awareness and referral pathway.

The conversation also explored basic financial awareness, including the importance of budgeting and saving consistently. Through these continued engagements, we are not only sharing information but also building confidence, strengthening peer networks and supporting paid domestic childcare workers to know their rights, seek support when needed, and make informed decisions about their livelihoods.

Today, our Champions for Child Care Work held a community dialogue with domestic workers in Bandani, an informal settlement within Kisumu West Sub-County.

The dialogue provided an important platform for domestic workers to access information and engage on key issues affecting their work and well-being, including labour rights, decent working conditions, prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the workplace, and available referral pathways.

Through these community engagements, we continue to promote awareness, dignity, safety, and the rights of domestic workers while strengthening their ability to seek support and access appropriate services when their rights are violated.

Today, we had the privilege of participating in the The Egmont Trust Annual Partner Meeting - a valuable platform for partners to connect, reflect on our collective achievements, share experiences, and chart the way forward.

The meeting provided an opportunity to celebrate the progress made, learn from one another, strengthen collaboration, and renew our shared commitment to creating meaningful and lasting change in the communities we serve.

Empowering Childcare Workers for Safer and Dignified Workplaces.

Pamoja held a community dialogue with centre-based childcare workers from Nyalenda, Kisumu East Sub-County, creating a safe space for workers to share experiences, learn, and advocate for their rights.

The dialogue focused on workplace safety, prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the workplace, and employment rights.

Participants were equipped with knowledge to recognise unsafe working conditions, understand their rights, and access appropriate support and referral services.

At Pamoja, we believe that every childcare worker deserves a safe, respectful, and dignified workplace. By strengthening knowledge, solidarity, and collective action, we can build a childcare sector where workers' rights are protected and valued.
