Borne out of a desire to help the neediest members of our society, The Rahul Kotak Foundation embodies the values shared by its founders: charity and the courage to bring about positive and sustainable change. Having spent most of our lives in Kisumu, we believe one of the best ways of giving back to the city is by supporting its children; especially those living in conditions of abject poverty. S

A week of meals, and a reason to stay in school.

“Without the meals, I wouldn’t have made it this far.”

Javan dreams of becoming an engineer. For a long time, staying in school wasn’t certain, he often worked ferrying people across a nearby lake, sometimes missing class to earn a small income.

Kshs.150 covers a week of meals through RKF’s School Meals Program. With that consistency, Javan was able to stay in class, focus on his studies, and complete primary school among the top students in his class.

Today, he continues his education at a leading county secondary school through our Scholarship Fund.

Because sometimes, something as simple as a meal for the week is what makes staying in school possible.

Alpha wants to become a neurosurgeon.

His vision board reads: “I want to study abroad, learn from different cultures, and give back to society.”

He has the potential. But with limited and unstable income at home, even two meals a day isn’t always guaranteed, making access the biggest barrier.

Through RKF’s Scholars Project, 34 students like Alpha are being supported through secondary school with funding, mentorship, and opportunity, so talent isn’t lost to circumstance.

When access grows, potential turns into progress. Be part of that change.

Celebrating special days, the RKF way ❤🍽🎉

Last month, our Meal Kit distribution coincided with Rahul’s birthday, a moment we chose to honour by sharing it with the community.

55 parents from across our partner communities received meal kits. Each kit serves up to 200 meals for a family of five over two weeks, reaching a total of 11,000 meals.

Joshua, a father of three, received a kit for the second time.
“We used to take tea without sugar,” he shares. “And my family rarely ate dengu (greengrams).”

Today, his family enjoys more regular, balanced meals, a small shift that carries quiet meaning in everyday life.

Alongside the kits, families also received milk, bread, and blankets, bringing both nourishment and comfort as the rainy season sets in.

At RKF, celebration isn’t just a moment. It continues, through shared meals, strengthened households, and a community that shows up for one another.
