Blue Cross Kenya, the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse Nacada Kenya , and the County Government of Kakamega joined forces with local partners for an Alcohol Prevention Awareness Walk in Kakamega. The event aimed to promote an alcohol-free lifestyle and advocate for the strict enforcement of county alcohol regulations.

During the event, the NACADA Kakamega County Coordinator emphasized the critical enforcement of the "proximity rule" to keep alcohol outlets away from schools and protect children. While noting that past NACADA surveys ranked Western Kenyan high in alcohol consumption, she expressed confidence that ongoing collaborative prevention efforts will show measurable improvement in the next survey. Additionally, the Director of Blue Cross Kenya called on every county to establish at least one or two functional rehabilitation centres to support individuals battling addiction.

Homa Bay County advanced its collaborative efforts in substance abuse prevention through a high-impact Alcohol Prevention Awareness Walk, led by Deputy County Commissioner Dr. Sigei in partnership with Nacada Kenya , the County Government Of Homa Bay, and local community working groups.

The initiative actively engaged community members across Homa Bay County—from local streets to the shores of Lake Victoria—urging citizens to embrace prevention strategies and safeguard children and youth from alcohol and substance use. Crucially, stakeholders called upon the Homa Bay County Assembly to accelerate the tabling and amendment of the Homa Bay Alcoholic Drinks Act, while demanding the strict enforcement and implementation of the National Alcohol Policy.

Kiambu County has recently made headlines due to rise in illicit drug use and tragic alcohol-related fatalities. To address this urgent crisis and also educate the community, Blue Cross Kenya teamed up with Nacada Kenya , the Kiambu County Government-Kenya , and local community working groups to organize a powerful Alcohol Prevention Awareness Walk. The event aimed to educate residents and inspire them to join a growing movement dedicated to protecting local children, youth, and families.

Moving forward, this walk will become an annual event to continuously expand our network of community prevention ambassadors.In addition to public awareness, we have united with community working groups to fiercely advocate for the full enforcement of the Kiambu Alcoholic Drinks Control Act and the National Alcohol Policy.

The event was officially flagged off by the Kiambu County Commissioner, and was attended by representatives from the Office of the Member of MP, alongside other key dignitaries.
