Last week, KMET joined maternal health partners from across the country at the State House, Nairobi, during the launch of the Ending Preventable Maternal and Newborn Deaths (EWENE) Strategic Plan by His Excellency, President William Ruto.

The Strategic Plan aligns closely with KMET's longstanding commitment to improving maternal and newborn health outcomes in Kenya. Through our advocacy, health systems strengthening initiatives, and community-based interventions, we continue to support efforts aimed at ensuring that every mother has access to quality and lifesaving care.

Recently, KMET expanded its postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) management interventions to six new counties, strengthening service delivery and contributing to the prevention of one of the leading causes of maternal deaths. This expansion reflects our unwavering commitment to placing the lives and well-being of mothers at the center of our work.
We are proud to contribute to the national agenda of ending preventable maternal and newborn deaths and look forward to accelerating progress alongside government and health sector partners. Our goal remains clear: a Kenya where no woman dies while giving life.

Every time we involve both boys and girls in menstrual health conversations, we remind society that periods are not a “women’s problem” — they are a human and community conversation. We break stigma, challenge silence, and create safer spaces where girls can experience menstruation with dignity and confidence.

We were especially proud of these boys who showed up, danced, participated, and stood in solidarity during Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026. Their presence reminded us that creating a period-friendly world requires everyone.

Because dignity begins when society stops treating menstruation as shameful and starts treating it as normal.

On this International Day of Action for Women’s Health, we celebrate the KMET Clinic on Wheels and the dedicated staff who have continued to deliver essential healthcare services to communities for the past one year and five months since its launch.
As we mark this important day, we remain encouraged that women in hard-to-reach communities are now able to access quality, affordable, and dignified healthcare services closer to them.
This week in Kisii County, through collaboration with the Kisii County Department of Health, the outreach successfully provided:
Cervical cancer screening and treatment, Antenatal care service, Ultrasound services for expectant mothers, Child immunization Family planning services General reproductive health services
In line with this year’s theme, “Essential, Not Optional: Strengthening Health Systems to Uphold Health Rights and SRHRJ in Times of Polycrisis,” we remain committed to expanding access to essential reproductive and maternal health services to more communities in need because every woman deserves healthcare delivered with dignity, compassion, and humanity.

28/05/2026

Today in Kisii County, we are reminded that menstruation should never limit who we are or who we aspire to become. We can go through our periods with dignity and still fully show up as women, leaders, mothers, students, and changemakers in society.

Last week, our staff in Samburu took part in a powerful male involvement session organized by a local CBO together with PSK in Samburu Central.

For many years, Samburu County has held firmly to cultural practices, some of which continue to negatively affect women and girls. Through our maternal health prevention project, it was encouraging to see morans gradually embracing change and speaking up against early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and SGBV.

Our focus at the community is on engaging morans as agents of change within their communities a critical step in transforming attitudes and improving the health and wellbeing of women and girls in one of Kenya’s most underserved regions.
