Soil Health and Fertility starts with effective ways of land preparations.
Today the organization engaged small holder farmers from Busia County through the DaCCA program in the establishment of raised and double dug beds. Loosening the soils to the right depth absorbs rainwater easily and holds moisture longer facilitating seeds germination and good crop development.

Farmers are also encouraged to clear and plough fields early to disrupt w**d growth cycles and bury destructive w**d seeds not to sprout easily.

Double digging the soils exposes hidden, soil-borne pests, pupae, and disease spores to the sun breaking pest and disease build up chains.

Today, small holder farmers from 5 wards in Busia County are being taken through surface water runoff management practices involving construction of A-frames for the establishment of swales within their Agro-ecology demo farm, a total of 15 Agro-ecological model centers are being established under DaCCA Program.
