On Friday 7th project visited KCA University Western Campus-Kisumu Integrity Club for a fifth time to deliver capacity building session under the larger Tupigane na Ufisadi project.

Community Led Solutions CBO has recorded remarkable growth in the students over the 6 months period we've been walking together in this project.
We are confident that the 5 structured training sessions have successfully ignited a level of consciousness in the students enough to nudge them into taking their civic roles seriously and above all supporting various anti-corruption initiatives envisaged under the project.

We look forward to more corruption incidences being reported, more memos and petitions rolling from the and many many more initiatives driven by the students.

Thanks European Union in Kenya Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Kenia Tisa Kenya TI-Kenya for starting off this journey with us three years ago and keeping it strong to date as we continue the journey with Integrity Clubs in tertiary institutions across the 11 counties in Kenya.

Excited to be part of this new and continuing journey of exploring and creating safeguards to the very spaces that anchor us as we champion advocacy and social accountability work. Thanks WeCare Youth Based Organization for bringing this home and CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation for stocking the arsenal to keep things in motion.

This week allow me to wade on this very familiar subject for change agents like you and me. Don't mind waving a red or yellow or green card on this.

Over time i have proved beyond doubt that real change normally happens when ordinary people choose to work together guided by a common purpose. Yet one of the greatest barriers to meaningful community transformation is our obsession with individual success.
Often I see us celebrate personal victories, compete for recognition, protect our own spaces, and build movements that depend on one person instead of strong statems. As you guess it, the result is always predictable because when a leader steps away, the vision weakens, the momentum fades, and years of progress naturally disappear. This is not the sustainable leadership that we so often impute in every report we develop and read aloud, but a fragile ambition disguised as impact.

If we truly want to be claim the title of change agents, then we must value collective purpose over personal applause. The measure of leadership is not how indispensable we become, but how well others can continue the work without us. Communities are transformed when knowledge is shared, leadership is distributed, and success belongs to everyone and not just a few faces at the front. Until we embrace collaboration as a strength rather than a threat, we will remain pawns in our own game, mistaking individual achievements for lasting change. It is time to rethink what legacy really means.

Today our Integrity360 project under the larger project marked an important milestone as ICS Technical College Kisumu Campus's Integrity Club members joined various stakeholders and residents during a dual public participation on two important bills: Kisumu Cohnty Education and Social Protection Bill 2026 and Kisumu County Gender Equity Bill 2026 at Grace Onyango Social Hall to add their voice to this important legislative process. This comes a day after the same group submitted written memorandum to the Clerk Kisumu County Assembly on the two bills. This epitomises an important transition from theory to practice only a fortnight after we concluded our capacity building sessions with the Club where we explored various advocacy tools among other topics over the last 3 months.

The objects statement in the bills state as follows too:

2. The Kisumu County Gender and Equity Bill, 2026 provides for the management and administration of gender affairs in Kisumu County by promoting the progressive realization of gender equity, institutionalize gender-responsive governance, and ensure equitable access to opportunities and services in all sectors of Kisumu County Government.
