Earlier today, a section of the UNESCO Club Maseno Chapter executive met with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (PRI) of Maseno University, where several key outcomes were agreed upon. The meeting focused on strengthening environmental action and student engagement, beginning with a proposal to partner with other campus clubs such as MUES and environmental clubs to plant available trees within the university, with a tentative planting date set for 3rd April; the DVC committed to inviting potential partners including Standard Chartered Bank, Equity Bank, and KCB, while emphasizing the club’s responsibility to ensure post-planting care of the trees. On hosting Truphena Muthoni, he advised rescheduling the event to Friday the 13th or 20th, noting that weekdays attract higher student attendance compared to weekends, particularly Saturdays when many students attend church. Regarding educational and environmental trips, the DVC expressed his support by indicating that, as an environmental activist, he would facilitate transport by providing a bus upon request, provided the club remains committed to environmental causes. Finally, the issue of members without UNESCO T-shirts was raised, and it was agreed that mechanisms should be put in place to enable such members to access them.
