Kisumu Social Inclusion Network engaged key stakeholders in a community Baraza focused on matters affecting the well-being and safety of community members in Kisumu West Sub-County.

The session was attended by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) for Kisumu West, Mr. Oloo, who emphasized the importance of effective coordination, collaboration, and support for Chiefs in carrying out their roles within the community.

The Baraza brought together 12 Chiefs, providing an open platform to share experiences, concerns, and recommendations on key issues affecting residents, including:

• Community well-being and welfare
• Prevention, reporting, and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
• The current security situation within Kisumu West
• Strengthening collaboration between communities, local administration, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders

Through such engagements, stakeholders can work together to identify practical solutions, strengthen community safety, and promote inclusive and responsive local governance.

Condolence Message

It is with deep sorrow that we have received the news of the passing of Mr. Joel Okumu, Director of Gender and Social Services.

Mr. Okumu was a dedicated leader, advocate, and partner whose commitment to gender equity and social justice greatly contributed to the growth and impact of Kisumu Social Inclusion Network (KSIN) within the gender sector,Endfemicide Movement and The Gender Sector working groups. His unwavering support, leadership, and service touched many lives and strengthened collaboration across the county and beyond.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, the County Department of Gender and Social Services, the Gender Sector Working Group, and all stakeholders affected by this great loss.

His legacy of service, compassion, and commitment to social transformation will continue to inspire us.
