Today, we proudly join the nation in commemorating Madaraka Day — a day that reminds us of Kenya’s journey toward self-rule, unity, and national pride. 🇰🇪

As we celebrate this historic milestone, we honor the resilience, sacrifice, and determination of those who paved the way for the freedoms we enjoy today. May this day continue to inspire hope, patriotism, and a shared commitment to building a stronger and brighter future for all.

We joined like-minded partners in commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 during the 4th Annual Nyalenda Period Festival, where we helped promote menstrual health awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to essential services for girls and women in the community.

The event was graced by Kisumu County Waziri for Gender, Culture and Sports, Madam Beatrice , alongside Mr. George Orude and other distinguished guests committed to championing dignity, health, and empowerment.

Free services offered included HIV and infection screening, legal aid, psychosocial support, counselling, health consultations, and menstrual health education. Girls also received up to 6 months’ worth of dignity packages, helping support safer and more dignified menstrual health management.

The festival created a safe space for learning, support, and open conversations around menstruation, reflecting the impact of partnerships and community action in advancing the wellbeing of girls and women.

HOK participated in the 2-day IYBA SEED Project Trainer of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on Entrepreneurship Curriculum Design and Toolkit Development supported by SlovakAid implemented by Impact Gateway Africa, hosted at Wisehub , Kisumu.

The workshop brought together trainers, facilitators, and ecosystem actors engaging with the IYBA SEED curriculum framework across key entrepreneurship themes and modules. Through the sessions, we strengthened our facilitation approaches, explored inclusive entrepreneurship training methodologies, and exchanged practical insights that can support startups and communities across different ecosystems.

We look forward to applying these learnings in strengthening entrepreneurship support, fostering innovation, and supporting startups within our communities and ecosystems.

Following a the World Football Week in preparation to the just concluded World Football Day , we engaged in a series of wellness-focused and community-centered football sessions culminating in a vibrant engagement at Kisumu Children Remand Home in partnership with Soulevement Kenya .

Through the beautiful game, young participants from the Okiri Project and Jiboreshe Sports for Wellness shared the pitch in an exciting match that promoted physical wellbeing, mental wellness and active lifestyles under the global “Be Active” campaign, encouraging 60 minutes of daily activity.

Beyond the game, the session created space for meaningful conversations on mental health and wellbeing, while reinforcing football’s role in promoting peace, unity and positive behaviour change within communities.

We are grateful for the support of the FIFA Foundation in making such impactful engagements possible. Together, we continue to build healthier minds, stronger bodies and more peaceful communities.

Sports can be a powerful tool for connection, healing and positive change.

HOK joined BetterMe.org and other partners at the Remand Home for a spirited football match with the minors — creating a refreshing break from routine and a meaningful moment of teamwork, joy and connection through sport.

The engagement strengthened cohesion among partner organizations and the minors, reinforcing ongoing efforts to promote positive behaviour change, mentorship and holistic support for institutionalised children.

In line with Mental Health Awareness, the session also created space for important conversations around mental wellbeing, reminding us that healing, growth and support are deeply interconnected and best nurtured through safe and engaging environments.

The future of green entrepreneurship is being shaped by bold, resilient and solution-driven innovators.

HOK participated as a judge during the GreenBiz Entrepreneurship Training pitching event hosted by Somo Africa in partnership with Sustainable Rural Initiatives

Over the past two months, entrepreneurs received training in agroecology, financial management and climate change adaptation before presenting innovative business ideas focused on sustainable agriculture, climate-smart solutions and community impact.

We were inspired by the creativity, resilience and purpose demonstrated throughout the pitching session. Congratulations to all the graduates and best wishes to those advancing to the next stage.

Together, we are building stronger and more resilient green economies, one idea at a time.

When students are empowered, schools transform from within.

We engaged the Environmental Club at Korando School in a hands-on session strengthening environmental awareness, leadership, and sustainability action.

The club now has clear objectives, guiding rules, and elected male and female leaders to drive inclusive student-led environmental action.

Learners actively identified real environmental challenges in their school and began co-creating practical solutions, shifting from awareness to ownership.

This engagement is building a culture of responsibility, where students are not just participants—but active drivers of a cleaner, healthier school environment.

We joined the Eva More Africa for a Clean-Up initiative alongside partners, students, and the school community at Kosawo Comprehensive School; a powerful drive to promote proper waste management and environmental responsibility.

Together, participants removed two landfill sites within the school compound, restoring a cleaner, safer, and healthier learning environment for students and staff.

We also engaged the Environmental Club, strengthening student leadership and encouraging a strong sense of ownership in keeping the school clean beyond the activity.

The learners showed real teamwork and commitment; proving that lasting environmental change begins with awareness, responsibility and collective action.

A dirty environment doesn't just affect the spaces we live in; it can affect the minds we grow with.

At Kosawo School, learners explored an important conversation on the Effects of a Dirty Environment on Mental Health, reflecting on how unclean surroundings can influence stress, emotions, concentration, and overall wellbeing.

Through interactive discussions, students discovered that simple actions like proper waste disposal, recycling, tree planting, and keeping our surroundings clean, can contribute to healthier environments and healthier minds.
