We were honored to receive a delegation from the KIOS Foundation as they continue to support our Afya Yetu, Haki Yetu Scale-Up Project for the second year running.
This partnership has strengthened the safety and security of our rights holders, deepened mental health resilience through peer support groups, and supported the training of community mental health champions. It has also enabled us to launch our new podcast series—creating space for our stories, our healing, and our power.
In a context where organizations like ours face increasing challenges, this support is deeply valued and never taken for granted.
As we move into the second quarter, we look forward to advancing stronger policy engagement and advocacy.

Knowledge of the law is power and a critical step toward justice ⚖️

Larwher held a legal literacy session on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) in Vihiga County, where we unpacked the laws that exist to protect individuals from online harm. From the right to privacy and dignity to protections against cyber harassment and abuse, we explored how these legal frameworks can be used to seek redress and accountability.

The conversation also focused on access to justice what it looks like in practice, the barriers that exist, and how communities can better navigate systems meant to protect them.

Creating safer digital spaces starts with awareness. When people understand their rights, they are better equipped to challenge violations, support survivors, and demand justice.

Not One More.
Not on our watch.

LARWHER and VOWWEK brought key justice actors to one table to unpack the Presidential Taskforce Report on GBV & Femicide.

We moved beyond conversation to coordination to aligning on how to collaborate, strengthen accountability, and fast-track implementation of the report’s recommendations.

Because reports don’t save lives. Action does.

Justice must be survivor-centered. Systems must work. Perpetrators must be held accountable.

*Campaign Introduction: NOT ONE MORE!*

*Not One More* is a bold, year-long advocacy campaign led by LARWHER to confront the rising cases of femicide and gender-based violence (GBV) in Kenya. Inspired by the recently released Presidential Taskforce Report on GBV and Femicide, the campaign calls on government institutions, civil society, private sector actors, and citizens to collectively fast-track the implementation of the Taskforce recommendations and hold perpetrators accountable.

The campaign is built around five key calls to action:

1. Legally Define Femicide : Advocate for a clear legal definition of femicide in Kenyan law to ensure that the killing of women because of their gender is recognized, prosecuted, and prevented.

2. Strengthen Enforcement: Demand effective law enforcement, policing, and judicial action to ensure perpetrators are held accountable swiftly and survivors are protected.

3. Fund Survivor Services: Mobilize sustainable resources for shelters, legal aid, psychosocial support, and healthcare services for survivors of GBV.

4. Improve Data Systems: Call for comprehensive, transparent, and timely data collection and reporting mechanisms to inform policy, planning, and prevention strategies.

5. Challenge Harmful Norms: Engage the public, institutions, and private sector to confront social, cultural, and institutional practices that perpetuate violence against women.

*Campaign Goal* :
“Not One More” envisions a Kenya where no womxn suffers violence or death because of her gender. The campaign leverages a high-impact visual identity and messaging that speaks to everyone ; citizens, government, corporates, and civil society ,urging collective accountability, action, and societal transformation.

*Why Now* :
With femicide and GBV cases escalating, the urgency to implement the Taskforce recommendations is critical. This campaign ensures that survivors’ voices are amplified, that institutions are accountable, and that no more lives are lo

LARWHER participated in the SOGIESC Economic Empowerment Linking, Reflection, Learning & Planning Workshop (2026) in Nairobi.
Together with EMAC, Amkeni Malindi, Nadharia, QACC Africa and Hivos, we reflected honestly on what we’ve achieved, where we’ve struggled, and what this moment demands of our right holders' economic justice work in Kenya.

From rethinking impact and measurement to co-designing the next phase under the Free to Thrive initiative, the conversations were feminist, power-aware, evidence-informed and future-focused.

We return to Western Kenya grounded in learning and clearer in strategy committed to strengthening access to markets, capital, skills development, and collective economic power for our right holders.

The next phase is intentional. The next phase is strategic. And we are building it with you. ✊🏾
