❤️ STREET REACH OUT — GIVING HOPE WHERE IT IS NEEDED MOST

Nyalenda Shelter Of Hope and our dedicated team went out to meet our brothers and young people living on the streets of downtown Kisumu.

We came not only with food, but with love, prayer, fellowship, listening ears and hope. 🙏🏽❤️

We sat together, shared a meal, prayed together, listened to their stories and talked about pathways toward a better future—including returning to school, reconnecting with their families and joining vocational training.

We were able to interact with about 40 boys and identify young people who are interested in education, family reunification and vocational skills.

We are grateful for the spirit of partnership with Friends Pioneer and St. Joseph, who continue to stand with us in supporting street-connected children and young people. Together, we believe that reaching a child today can help transform their tomorrow.

The work does not end with one outreach. We will continue to follow up, trace families, support education and connect young people with skills opportunities.

They may be living on the streets, but they are not forgotten. They have dignity, dreams, talents and a future. ❤️

HOME TRACING & EDUCATIONAL REINTEGRATION — RAFTON KOSIM

Today, Nyalenda Shelter of Hope is grateful to share the journey of Rafton Kosim, a young boy whose story reminds us why child protection, education, and community partnership matter.

Rafton comes from Kericho and was being raised by his single mother, Beatrice Mora, together with his siblings.

Due to financial challenges, the family struggled to meet school fees, clothing, and other basic necessities. At times, Rafton had to miss school and work to help clear school arrears and support his mother.

Eventually, overwhelmed by these challenges, he left home and found himself surviving on the streets.

🙏 Nyalenda Shelter of Hope rescued Rafton at night, brought him to safety, and began supporting him through care, mentorship, and guidance.

After conducting a home tracing and engaging his mother, we agreed that Rafton needed a stable educational environment.

Through our partnership and support, he was admitted to St Joseph Boarding School, where he was warmly received and immediately resumed his studies.

We are especially grateful to St Joseph for welcoming Rafton and giving him an opportunity to continue his education.

We also appreciate Friends Pioneer for standing with us in supporting vulnerable children and helping create pathways toward a brighter future. 🤝

Before his admission, our team visited his former school, cleared an outstanding balance of KSh 2,400, and collected the necessary documentation and belongings for his transition.

We also had a positive discussion with the school principal concerning Rafton's progress and potential.

His mother's gratitude touched our hearts. ❤️

As a single parent facing difficult circumstances, she expressed how much relief this intervention has brought to her family.

🙏 The journey does not end with admission.

We will continue working with St Joseph, Friends Pioneer, Rafton's family, and our supporters to ensure that he has the school and boarding necessities he needs to remain in school and pursue his dreams.

🎓❤️ A NEW CHAPTER OF HOPE FOR GODFREY & VANVIKER ❤️🎓

Today was a very special day for us at Nyalenda Shelter Of Hope as two boys we rescued from the streets, Godfrey Omosia (Grade 9) and Vanviker Ochieng (Grade 10), were successfully admitted to St Joseph School.

Through the partnership between Friends Pioneer and Nyalenda Shelter Of Hope, these two young boys now have an opportunity to return to the classroom, rebuild their confidence, and work toward a brighter future. 🙏📚

We are grateful to St Joseph School for receiving them with warmth and taking time to understand their backgrounds and the challenges they experienced while living on the streets. Your understanding means so much. ❤️

We also had a wonderful discussion about our next enrollment, Belinda, a girl from a street family whom we have also rescued. We are working toward enrolling her at St Joseph in Form 3 this week.

🌸 REFORMED STREET GIRLS KISUMU — A JOURNEY OF HOPE AND EMPOWERMENT 🌸

Reformed Street Girls Kisumu is not something that has just started today. This group has been there and has been part of our journey for some time, created out of a genuine desire to support girls and young women who have experienced street life, poverty, vulnerability, and difficult circumstances.

Through Nyalenda Shelter of Hope, we saw the need to create a platform where these young women could come together, support one another, learn, save, develop skills, and work toward becoming financially independent.

Our goal has never been simply to give handouts. We want to see girls rebuild their lives, regain their dignity, develop skills, start small businesses, return to school where possible, and become role models in their communities.

💪 Reformed does not mean forgotten. It means giving someone another opportunity to rebuild.

🏠 HOME TRACING FOR GODFREY — RECONNECTING A CHILD WITH FAMILY AND HOPE ❤️

At Shelter of Hope, we believe every child deserves safety, love, family support, and an opportunity to go back to school.

Our team recently carried out a home tracing visit for Godfrey in Kakamega to better understand his family situation and work toward strengthening the bond between Godfrey and his family.

Godfrey has faced difficult circumstances that led him away from home, interrupted his education, and exposed him to life on the streets and child labour. Through our intervention, we are working to help him leave that difficult situation behind and have another opportunity to return to school.

The home visit was an important step in understanding his needs, engaging with his family, and exploring a safe and supportive way forward. We believe that family involvement, education, protection, and consistent follow-up can make a lasting difference in his life.

🎓🏫 A NEW BEGINNING THROUGH EDUCATION ❤️

Today was a beautiful and emotional day for Nyalenda Shelter Of Hope, together with Pioneer and Joseph School.

We officially handed over two boys for school admission, giving them an opportunity to begin their educational journey and build a brighter future. 📚✏️

The school administration warmly welcomed us and took time to understand the boys' backgrounds, family situations, homes, and parents. We shared important information to help the school understand and support the children as they begin their classes.

For us, this is more than simply taking children to school. It is about mentoring, guiding, protecting, and giving every child a chance to dream again. ❤️

We are deeply grateful to Pioneer, Joseph School, and everyone who continues to stand with us in changing the lives of vulnerable children.

Angel’s Medical Support and Community Care Report

Today, Nyalenda Shelter Of Hope took an important step to support one of the girls in our care, Angel, who has been experiencing health challenges.

Angel had developed rashes on her body and was experiencing pain. Yesterday, she came to me and explained that she was not feeling well. I assured her that she would be taken to the hospital today so that she could receive proper medical attention and assessment.

We are very grateful to our friend, Dr. Wesley, for volunteering his time and professional services to help Angel. He kindly came to assist and take Angel to the hospital for medical evaluation and care. We sincerely appreciate his compassion and willingness to stand with our children when they need help.

At Nyalenda Shelter Of Hope, our mission is not only to provide basic needs but also to show love, care, protection and hope to children in our community. Sometimes we may not fully understand why children choose to trust us, but their trust reminds us of the responsibility we have to be there for them.

Every child deserves to feel heard, protected and loved. When Angel came to us and shared that she was in pain, it was our responsibility to listen and act.

Keeping Elias in School ❤️📚

Today was a meaningful day for Nyalenda Shelter of Hope as we joined hands with Friends Pioneer to support Elias Mosire, a Grade 7 learner from Kakamega County, and help him continue his education.

Before taking this step, our team carried out a home tracing and assessment visit to understand Elias’s family situation and the challenges affecting his education. We learned that the family sometimes struggles with upkeep and transport, making it difficult for Elias to remain consistently in school. These challenges had created a risk of him staying away from school and turning to street work.

During the home visit, we also found a loving family that is proud of Elias and appreciates his hard work and willingness to help with small responsibilities at home. Together with the family, we discussed a safer and more sustainable way forward for his education, including a boarding-school arrangement and proper planning for holidays and term breaks.

Today, Nyalenda Shelter of Hope and Friends Pioneer came together to turn that plan into action and put a child back on the path of education.

We are grateful to Friends Pioneer for partnering with us in this important mission. This is what partnership means identifying a challenge, walking with the family, and taking practical action to restore hope.
