Today, Compassionate Centre for Families - CCF welcomed two brave little survivors aged 5 and 7 into our care.

The children arrived accompanied by their father, a man carrying unimaginable grief and trauma after a devastating family tragedy that has forever changed their lives. As he entrusted his children to our care, he faced the heartbreaking task of returning home to prepare for the burial of his wife and other 2 children.

According to reports, there had been ongoing domestic conflict within the family for sometime. On Sunday morning, after the children's father left for church, she reportedly locked all four children in the house before setting it on fire and thereafter taking her life.

A neighbour saw smoke rising from the house and heard cries from inside. She raised alarm, ran to the scene and broke down the door. Tragically, only the two older children were able to escape. Their two younger siblings lost their lives in the fire. The surviving children sustained burn injuries, but the wounds we cannot see... the fear, grief, confusion, and trauma they now carry are perhaps even greater.

As we sat together today, the weight of their pain was evident. Yet amidst the heartbreak, we were reminded of the importance of safe spaces where children and families can begin to heal.

At CCF, the children will receive safe shelter, medical care, psychosocial support, and individualized case management to help them process their loss, recover from their injuries, and begin rebuilding a sense of safety and hope. Recognizing that healing must involve the entire family, their father has also been enrolled in a mental health and psychosocial support care plan, where he will receive counselling, emotional support, and ongoing follow-up as he navigates the unimaginable grief. Our commitment is to walk alongside this family, helping them find strength, healing, and hope in the midst of profound loss.

We are deeply grateful to Compassion International for being among the first responders, and for their critical support in facilitating emergency transportation and ensuring the immediate medical care and treatment of the surviving children. Their timely intervention has played a vital role in stabilizing the situation and supporting the beginning of this long healing journey.

At Compassionate Centre for Families, we remain committed to walking alongside vulnerable children and families through their darkest moments, helping them find safety, hope, and a path toward healing.

At Compassionate Centre for Families - CCF, we ensure that survivors attend court proceedings, whether physically or virtually, because we believe that access to justice is a fundamental part of healing and recovery.

Today one of our survivors participated in a virtual court session from the safety and comfort of the centre, accompanied by her case manager. Our team remains committed to walking alongside survivors throughout their journey, providing emotional support, advocacy, and a safe space as they seek justice.

Every court appearance represents courage. Every testimony is a step toward accountability. Every survivor deserves to be heard, protected, and supported.

We are proud of the strength our survivors continue to demonstrate and remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that no one has to face the justice process alone.

Sundays are for warm hugs, loud laughter, and a little bit of chaos!

At Compassionate Centre for Families - CCF rescue centre, our Executive Director's biggest Sunday challenge isn't paperwork, it's surviving endless hugs from the little and big survivors who simply refuse to let go!

In a place where healing happens every day, these moments of joy, laughter, and connection remind us that love truly is one of the most powerful medicines.

Today was a truly special day at the Compassionate Centre for Families Rescue Centre as we had the privilege of hosting a team from Mamlaka Hill Chapel Kisumu

They spent quality time with the women and children under our care, bringing not only food and non-food items but also something equally valuable, the gift of their presence, love, and encouragement.

The team facilitated group therapy sessions for our survivors, creating a safe space for healing, sharing, and hope. They also spent time playing with the children, worshipping together, and reminding everyone that they are seen, valued, and loved.

We are deeply grateful for their generosity, compassion, and commitment to walking alongside vulnerable families on their journey toward healing and restoration.

To the entire Mamlaka Hill Chapel family, thank you for choosing to make a difference in the lives of our women and children. Your kindness has left smiles on many faces and hope in many hearts.
May God richly bless you for being a blessing to us.

There are moments when kindness becomes more than a donation, it becomes hope restored.

This morning, Nyakobura Business Centre visited the Compassionate Centre for Families - CCF Rescue Centre and reminded our teen mothers that they are not alone.

For many of the girls in our care, motherhood came in the middle of pain, rejection, trauma, and uncertainty. Some arrived at our doors carrying nothing but their babies and broken hearts. Yet every single day, they fight quietly to heal, go back to school, learn to love themselves again, and become better mothers for their children.
The donation of over 1,000 diapers may seem simple to some, but to a struggling young mother, it means dignity. It means one less burden. It means her baby can sleep dry and comfortable tonight.
As if that wasn’t enough, they also recently donated bunk beds that will greatly boost accommodation capacity at the rescue centre and help us create a safer, more comfortable space for survivors rebuilding their lives.

To Nyakobura Business Centre, thank you for choosing to stand with survivors. Thank you for seeing humanity beyond statistics and headlines. Thank you for becoming part of the healing journey of these young mothers, women and children.
At Compassionate Centre for Families CBO, we continue to believe that healing happens when a community chooses compassion.

At the Compassionate Centre for Families CBO, once the teen mums leave for school, every staff on duty automatically becomes a nanny!

The admin rocks babies to sleep, the cook knows all the lullabies, and meetings are regularly interrupted by diaper emergencies 😅

Behind the humour is something beautiful, a team choosing daily to stand with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and help raise their little ones with love, safety, and dignity.
It truly takes a village.

At Compassionate Centre for Families - CCF, we remain committed to ensuring that every woman, child, and vulnerable family under our care is protected, supported, and treated with dignity.

Today, we are deeply grateful to acknowledge the continued support from the State Department for Special Programs, in collaboration with the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, through the delivery of our quarterly food donation to the CCF Rescue Centre and vulnerable families within the communities we serve.

We are thankful to share that over 5 tones of assorted dry food have now been safely delivered to our rescue center. This support will go a long way in ensuring that the women, children, and families under our care continue receiving sufficient meals, and it is expected to sustain our feeding program through to the last quarter of the year.

This partnership, which began last year, has continued to play a vital role in helping us uphold dignity, care, stability, and hope for vulnerable members of our community.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Asian community in Nairobi for their generous donations and continued kindness toward the children and women under our care. Your support helps ensure they remain clean, comfortable, confident, and well cared for.

Our mission remains unwavering, to protect, nurture, empower, and restore hope to every person who comes under our care.

Together, we continue restoring dignity, rebuilding lives, and giving hope to those who need it most.

At Compassionate Centre for Families - CCF, weekends are more than just days on the calendar, they are moments of connection, healing, and love.

Our Director Sheila Akinyi Otieno continues to dedicate weekends to spending quality time with the women and children, creating a safe and supportive environment where every child feels seen, heard, valued, and loved. From sharing stories and laughter to simply being present, these moments remind us that true compassion is shown through consistency and care.
Every smile we witness is a reminder that together, we are nurturing hope, restoring dignity, and building a brighter future for vulnerable children and families in our community.

Because at CCF, family is not only defined by blood, it is defined by love, presence, and compassion.
