When the journey feels long and the answers seem delayed, remember that God’s timing is perfect. Every prayer, every tear, and every step of faith matters.

The same God who brought you this far will not leave you now. Walk boldly into your purpose, knowing that you are chosen, equipped, and deeply loved.

🌸 Back to School, Back to Purpose – Impact Recap

What a powerful day it was 💛

From the moment our moms, teens, and children arrived, the space was filled with warmth, connection, and openness.

✨ We created safe conversations around mental wellness, reminding every mother that healing is strength
✨ Women engaged in reproductive health & family planning discussions—building healthier futures
✨ Teens and children were mentored on confidence, discipline, and dreaming beyond limitations
✨ Laughter and teamwork filled the room through games and bonding activities
✨ Shared meals turned strangers into community and support systems

We closed with gratitude, prayer, and a renewed commitment to grow stronger together 🌿

💬 “We came as we are… and left renewed.”

Tunza Dada Initiative attended the 2nd Africa Urban Forum. The forum brought together governments, private sector, civil society, and youth to shape Africa’s position on urban development, with a strong focus on “Adequate Housing for All” and how cities can drive socio-economic and environmental transformation.
Key discussions highlighted the role of data, digital innovation, and inclusive planning in addressing urban challenges especially housing, informal settlements, climate resilience, and service delivery in rapidly growing African cities.
A major outcome was the push towards a unified continental position through the Nairobi Declaration, aimed at influencing global urban agendas and ensuring African priorities are reflected.
For Tunza Dada Initiative, the forum reinforced the urgency of using data-driven approaches to make visible the realities of teenage girls and young women in urban spaces particularly around mental health, SRHR, safety, education, and economic inclusion. Without this data, these experiences remain excluded from planning and policy.
The conversations strongly affirmed that inclusive cities cannot be achieved without intentional investment in youth and women-led solutions, aligning directly with our work.

This Good Friday, we had the honor of serving and giving back Durham Rescue Mission, during the Easter celebration. 💛

Through Tunza Dada,we were reminded that love is best expressed through action—showing up, sharing, and standing with those in need.

Moments like these strengthen our commitment to compassion, community, and impact.

🌸 April: Awareness,Prevention & Empowerment. 🌸

This April, Tunza Dada is raising its voice for what matters most—awareness and prevention.

We stand committed to empowering girls and women through:
✨ Sexual & Reproductive Health Awareness – promoting access to accurate information and essential services
✨ Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention – speaking up, creating safe spaces, and supporting survivors
✨ Mental Health & Well-being – encouraging conversations, healing, and emotional strength

We believe that when a girl is informed, she is protected. When a woman is empowered, she transforms her community.

Let’s continue to educate, support, and uplift one another—because prevention starts with awareness, and awareness starts with us. 💜
With Hadassah Shiroh and Tina Kenya

Tunza Dada Initiative was proud to participate in the Kisumu SRHR Festival hosted by Dreams Redefined CBO, joining a vibrant community of advocates, organizations, and young people committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
At the festival, our engagement centered on representing the importance of data in shaping conversations and action around SRHR. We recognize that evidence is critical in highlighting gaps, informing responses, and ensuring that interventions are grounded in the lived realities of communities.
Spaces like the SRHR Festival are essential in bringing together diverse voices to challenge harmful norms, amplify underrepresented perspectives, and inspire collective action. It was encouraging to see the energy, openness, and commitment from participants working towards more inclusive and responsive systems.
At Tunza Dada, we believe that meaningful change happens when data meets dialogue, when information is not only collected, but used to tell stories, influence decisions, and drive transformation.
We are grateful to Dreams Redefined for creating such a powerful platform and look forward to continued collaboration in advancing equity, dignity, and access for all. Tina Kenya

Tunza Dada Initiative joined Flip Flop Friends at Ochwado Primary School in Nyakach Sub-County to support learners as they resumed school.
Through this engagement, we supported the distribution of footwear to help reduce absenteeism linked to injuries, jiggers, and long walking distances to school. Beyond material support, the day created space for meaningful conversations with both girls and boys on the importance of staying in school despite challenges.
A key highlight was a session led by our Director Hadassah Shiroh, who engaged girls on menstrual hygiene, dignity, and confidence. She emphasized that menstruation is a natural part of life and should never be a reason for shame, silence, or withdrawal from learning. Girls were encouraged to remain confident, participate fully in class, and understand that their education does not pause because of their period.
We also observed infrastructure challenges, including classrooms affected by flooding, which continue to impact attendance. Despite this, the commitment and resilience of the learners was evident. FlipFlop Friends further committed to returning with scholarship opportunities for high-performing students, reinforcing motivation and hope.
This engagement reflects our commitment to community-centered, dignity-affirming interventions that address both immediate needs and long-term wellbeing for children and young people.
