Our blessings continue to multiply!

In addition to our Aänit Prize win, we are grateful to celebrate another milestone: Ndaloh Heritage Organisation has been granted observer status to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

The confirmation, dated 30 September 2026, recognises our accreditation to the Conference of the Parties and its subsidiary bodies, opening a pathway for our community-rooted work to contribute to global conversations on land, drought and sustainable livelihoods.

What comes with this accreditation?

We will receive official invitations to attend these sessions. As an accredited organisation, we can designate representatives and pursue opportunities to organise side events, hold exhibitions and share our experiences with governments, researchers and fellow civil society organisations.

For us, this creates opportunities to bring the realities of the communities we serve into spaces where policies and priorities are shaped. Our work connecting agriculture, nutrition and livelihoods has taught us how closely people’s wellbeing depends on healthy land, access to resources and the systems that govern both.

We want to use this platform to advocate for just systems that recognise smallholder farmers’ knowledge, strengthen women’s participation in decisions, support sustainable food production and ensure communities have a meaningful voice in shaping their future.

This recognition also brings responsibility: to share evidence from our work, listen, build useful partnerships and bring learning back to the communities whose trust makes our contribution possible.

We thank God, our team, the farmers and families we work alongside, and every partner who has supported this journey. Each milestone strengthens our commitment to serve with care, integrity and purpose, from our communities to the global stage., We carry their knowledge, their aspirations and our shared hope for a more just and sustainable society.

Congratulations to the 2026 winner, Odwour Midigo (Kenya & Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, 2018), who won $96,000 towards his venture Ndaloh Heritage Organisation, which is driving innovation in the agriculture and food security impact area.

“Winning the Äänit Prize is both inspiring and humbling. I know how competitive the Prize has become, which makes this recognition especially meaningful. This award is not only a celebration of what we have achieved so far, but also an opportunity to deepen our impact.”

Each finalist received $1,000 in recognition of the considerable effort it took to enter the competition.

This short video captures a moment from our Clean Water Project at St. Anthony Inclusive Comprehensive School in Awasi, Kisumu County.

For many years, the school has faced severe and persistent water shortages that affected the daily lives of the very special children who learn and live there. Access to water is not only about convenience. It shapes hygiene, health, nutrition, and dignity, especially for children with special needs.

In collaboration with Missouri University of Science and Technology Friends and in partnership with Engineers Without Borders USA, a borehole installation project has been completed. This initiative now provides the school and the surrounding community with clean, predictable, and reliable water.

For these children, this means safer learning conditions, improved hygiene, and a stronger foundation for health and well-being.

We remain grateful to everyone who believed in this vision and helped make it possible as we continue working toward communities where every child can grow, thrive, and live with dignity.

Ndaloh Heritage Organization has the honour of being recognised by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the Seeding Future Foundation– Global Food Systems Challenge as a 2025 Semi-finalist.

This recognition belongs to the farmers, households, and communities we work with every day, reflecting our shared commitment to food security, indigenous knowledge, dietary diversity, and resilient local food systems.

We are grateful to Welthungerhilfe for championing innovation that begins with people and grows through partnership. The future of food is local, and we are honoured to help seed it.
