October 11, 2025, we had the privilege of participating in a transformative Student Mentorship Program held at Kindu Mixed Secondary School. The event brought together students, mentors, and partners with the aim of empowering young minds through education, health awareness, and environmental stewardship.

The mentorship sessions focused on the following key areas:

📌Menstrual Health Management: We engaged students in open discussions about menstrual hygiene, dispelling myths and encouraging healthy practices. As part of this, we distributed dignity packs to promote comfort and confidence among the girls.

📌Mental Health Awareness: We created a safe space for students to talk about mental well-being, stress management, and the importance of seeking help when needed. Our facilitators emphasized self-care, resilience, and peer support.

📌Climate Change Action: In response to the global climate crisis, we organized a tree planting exercise within the school compound. This activity not only promoted environmental conservation but also helped instill a sense of responsibility towards nature among the students.

📌Academic Excellence: Through motivational talks and peer-led discussions, we encouraged students to pursue academic excellence with discipline, consistency, and a growth mindset. Tips on time management, goal setting, and exam preparation were also shared.

To support students materially, we donated:

Dignity packs for girls (including sanitary towels and hygiene essentials)

Stationery supplies for over 200 students

This impactful event was convened by ANF in partnership with GDON, GHASO, and Tinada Youth Organization. We appreciate the collaboration and commitment from all partners in making this event a success.

Together, we are nurturing a generation that is healthy, informed, environmentally conscious, and academically driven.

On 26th September 2025, we participated in a politically charged town hall engagement to reflect on the performance of President William Ruto's administration at the three-year mark. The session was convened by Political Headache and Dialogues With Jagero. The session facilitated an open and robust dialogue along panellists and participants centered around both achievements and ongoing controversies.

Key Issues Discussed:

âś…Achievements and Failures of the Broad-Based Government
Participants evaluated the promises made versus those delivered, highlighting progress in infrastructure, digital transformation, and some social programs. However, concerns were raised about inclusivity, transparency, and delivery timelines.

âś…Healthcare Sector Concerns
Issues around accessibility, affordability, and quality of healthcare services were brought to the forefront. Many expressed disappointment over the slow pace of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) implementation and the state of public hospitals.

âś…Cost of Living
The rising cost of living emerged as one of the most pressing concerns. Attendees cited increased taxation, fuel prices, and food insecurity as contributors to economic hardship for the common mwananchi.

âś…Education Status
Discussions touched on the progress in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) rollout, funding for basic and higher education, and teacher welfare. While reforms were acknowledged.
