Imagine the many challenges African children face, from FGM, defilement, assault, exploitation, child labour, teen pregnancy, lack of WASH products and more.

Each violation is a reminder to ask ourselves: What is my role in addressing these problems?

As parents, teachers, and the community at large, we must reflect on the rights, welfare, and dignity of children.

We must find ways to protect them, strengthen their voices, and improve educational outcomes.

The Day of the African Child is approaching, a day to honour the brave students of the Soweto Uprising.

Let us mark it not only in remembrance, but by raising awareness, amplifying voices, and committing to action that safeguards every child’s future.

ARE MEN PRIVILEGED OR SIMPLY SOCIALIZED WRONG?

When we talk about men, is it socialization or privilege that weighs on them?
Does this strain contribute to violence, communication challenges, or even mental health struggles?

In our men only intergenerational session, we discussed the dynamics of manhood, how flexible they are to change, and how sharing privilege can create a better world for men themselves, for women, and for the children they are raising and those yet to come.

"FGM should continue”

That was the motion at our interclub debate. Boys proposed, girls opposed.

The fact that boys could still propose shows how FGM continues to be justified in our community.

Yet the girls’ opposition proves that our sessions on the harmful effects of FGM are making an impact. Knowledge is transforming into courage, and courage into change.

We are making strides toward eradicating FGM.

Ending FGM is not the work of a few, it is a collective responsibility.

Today, we honour all mothers who give life, nurture, love, guide, and never stop.

We are proud of you.
