A woman, giver, light, and face of resilience. A prayer warrior. So many words describe a mother.

Today, we honour all mothers who give life, nurture, love, guide, and never stop.

We are proud of you.

Thank you for being a shelter, a shoulder to lean on, a source of comfort, and for standing by your children with assurance, strength, and protection.

May this day remind you of the immense role you play and how grateful we are.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Tag your mother/mother figure and let her know how proud you are to have her.

What are you doing to build a ?

Is it breaking stigma?
Creating awareness to give girls confidence?
Providing period products
Or collaborating with institutions that can?

For too long, menstruation has been a barrier, affecting girls’ education, dignity, and daily lives.

This May, during Menstrual Hygiene Month, we embrace candid conversations and actionable solutions.

We can break taboos
We can expand access
We can ensure menstruation is never a barrier to opportunity.

Why do many parents wait until their children are older to seek open relationships with them?

Childhood is a journey of stages, where life skills, values, and boundaries are learned.

Too often, these stages are skipped, with the assumption that lessons can be taught all at once later.

This gap leaves children vulnerable to social issues like substance abuse, school dropouts, violence, and crime, as they learn from elsewhere instead of their parents.

In our joint parent-child session, we reflected on these gaps, shared experiences, and looked for ways to bridge them for healthier, stronger families.

HAPPY NEW MONTH

Behind every thriving society are women whose labour, paid and unpaid, sustains it.

Today we celebrate their strength and call for equality in opportunities, wages, and leadership.

Happy Labour Day

Under the Banana Fiber Project, beneficiaries are sharpening their skills in handicraft making.

Concepts like value addition, zero waste, and weaving are no longer just ideas, we are weaving them into reality.

We are turning knowledge into sustainable creations.

The meaning of family continues to evolve.

With changing dynamics, it is important to help children understand what family is, the different forms it can take, and how relationships at the family level should be nurtured.

In our school workshop, we emphasized boundaries, respect, and awareness of what is acceptable and what is not.

These lessons guide decision making and help children adapt to changing times, protecting their mental health.

Children are naturally resilient, and when given the right knowledge with clarity, they thrive.

In our intergenerational couples session, we looked at these questions:

How did the older generation sustain marriages?

What is the younger generation doing, or failing to do, differently?

What harmful norms are being broken today?

These reflections were driven by rising cases of violence normalized in the name of love, tensions between daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law, and gaps that have robbed homes of peace.

Through shared experiences, we seek to restore harmony and reimagine relationships built on respect and understanding

A new term. Another opportunity to inform and empower.

In our sensitization session, we focused on health and hygiene, two inseparable aspects of growth.

A hygienic child is a healthy child, with confidence and self-esteem, and that is what we envision for the girls and boys we mentor.

Through our health and hygiene unit, we nurture practices that ensure young people grow well, avoid future complications, and embrace a path of resilience and wellbeing.

We have successfully concluded a 3-day training for Women Budget Cell members on Gender Responsive Budgeting and budget tracking.

The training was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to effectively engage in the county budgeting process. We are confident that the insights gained will enhance the inclusion and active participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in county planning and budgeting processes in Kisii County.

In times of ignorance, we were forgiven.

But now that we know right from wrong, what excuse remains?

Our mission is to create awareness that breaks ignorance in households and communities.

We need everyone to know that:
FGM is wrong and against the law.
Intimate partner violence is a punishable violation.
Economic violence is real.
Marital r**e exists.

Violence takes many forms, and too often, people choose not to see.

Awareness is the path to accountability, and accountability is the path to change.

We successfully convened a Budget Advocacy and Public Finance Management (PFM) Stakeholder Inception Meeting at Magharibi Hotel in Kisii County, bringing together key actors committed to advancing transparency, accountability, and inclusive participation in county planning and budgeting.
This initiative, set to run from 2026–2028, will be piloted through the establishment of Women Budget Cells, with financial support from Bajeti Hub under the Lake Region Budget Hub and implemented by CECOME
The meeting provided a valuable platform to:
• Introduce the upcoming project focused on inclusion of women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and marginalized groups
• Highlight key gaps and opportunities in public finance management
• Strengthen collaboration and coordination among stakeholders
A total of 28 participants attended, including representatives from civil society organizations, faith-based institutions, county government departments (Gender, Finance, and Health), Members of the County Assembly (Budget & Appropriations Committee), and representatives of disability and marginalized groups.
Together, we are taking meaningful steps toward building stronger partnerships and promoting accountable, transparent, and inclusive budgeting in Kisii County.
