Down syndrome is a genetic condition.
It happens when a baby is born with an extra chromosome 21.

Instead of 46 chromosomes, the baby has 47.
This is called Trisomy 21.

It happens during early pregnancy when the chromosomes do not separate properly.

It is NOT caused by:

- What the mother ate
- Stress
- Spiritual reasons (village people)
- Something you did wrong

Risk factors are :
- Women 35 years and above have a higher chance
- Family history can increase the risk

👉 But it can happen to anyone, even young mothers

Common features

Children with this condition may have:
- Delayed growth and learning
- Low muscle tone (they may sit or walk later)
- Certain facial features (like a flat nose bridge)

But listen…

Every child is different.

Can they live a normal life?

Yes

With love, care, and support, children with Down syndrome can:
- Go to school
- Learn new skills
- Work
- Build relationships

What they need most

Not pity.
Not rejection.

They need:
Love
Patience
Acceptance
Inclusion

Down syndrome is not a disease you “catch”…
It is a condition a child is born with.

And that child is still:
- Somebody’s joy
- Somebody’s dream
- Somebody’s whole world

Different does not mean less.

FGM is a harmful cultural practice that violates the rights, health, and dignity of girls and women. It has no medical benefits and can cause lifelong pain, infections, complications in childbirth, and emotional trauma.
At SheLeads, we believe every girl deserves to grow up safe, healthy, and free to lead her life without fear or harm.

What Does Inters*x Mean? 🌈
Inters*x is a term used to describe people who are born with physical s*x characteristics (such as chromosomes, hormones, or reproductive anatomy) that don’t fit typical definitions of male or female bodies.
Being inters*x is a natural variation in human biology. It’s not a disease, and it’s not something someone “chooses.”
According to the United Nations, inters*x people are born with s*x characteristics that differ from typical binary notions of male or female bodies.
Important things to know: • Inters*x is about biological traits, not s*xual orientation.
• An inters*x person can identify as male, female, both, or neither.
• Many inters*x people live healthy, normal lives.
• Respect, awareness, and understanding matter.
Inters*x variations are estimated to occur in about 1–2% of the population worldwide.

At the International Solidarity Foundation (ISF), we believe every girl has the right to grow up safe, healthy, and empowered.

FGM is a violation of human rights, and we remain committed to zero tolerance to this harmful practice. Through strong partnerships with the County Government, community leaders, religious institutions, schools, local administrators, and grassroots organizations, we continue to amplify voices that say NO to FGM.

Ending FGM requires collective action and sustained collaboration. It calls for parents to choose education, men to stand as protectors and champions, and communities to uphold dignity over harmful traditions.

At ISF, we will continue working hand in hand with our partners to protect girls’ rights and build safer, stronger communities where every girl can thrive.
