We are currently immersed in a 10-day intensive training at Miyare ATC, facilitated by Food& Agriculture Organization of the United Nations , focusing on Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and climate-smart agriculture.

This experience is more than just learning—it is a powerful step toward transformation. It is equipping us with practical knowledge and skills to nurture resilience, strengthen livelihoods, and respond meaningfully to the realities of climate change.

Through this capacity building, we are intentionally advancing our International Bureau for Epilepsy Action Pledge—bridging the critical connection between epilepsy and climate change. By doing so, we are working toward a future where vulnerable communities are not only supported, but empowered to thrive in sustainable and inclusive environments.

Real change begins with knowledge, but it grows through action—and that is exactly the journey we are on.

Domestic Resource Mobilization and Budget Financing for Health

We participated in a training on Domestic Resource Mobilization and Budget Financing for Health, aimed at empowering partners with knowledge on how to mobilize local resources and strengthen health financing.

The training, organized by Amref Kenya in partnership with DMVV, highlighted the importance of advocating for increased health budgets, promoting accountability, and supporting sustainable health programs.

The knowledge gained will help organizations like U-Rise Kenya continue advocating for better access to epilepsy treatment and inclusive health services for vulnerable communities. 💜

🌸 International Women’s Day

Today we celebrate the strength and resilience of women everywhere, especially women living with epilepsy who continue to rise above stigma and challenges every day.

Many women with epilepsy face discrimination, limited access to treatment, and misunderstanding in their communities. Yet they remain mothers, leaders, caregivers, and changemakers.

At U-Rise Kenya, we are committed to empowering women with epilepsy through awareness, support, and advocacy so they can live healthy, dignified, and fulfilling lives.

This International Women’s Day, let us stand together to end epilepsy stigma and support women to rise and thrive. 💜

That’s 100,219,606 steps taken by people around the world — each one helping to raise visibility, understanding, and support for the epilepsy community.

🌍🌱 Climate Action is Health Action

Climate change is already affecting food systems, incomes, and health in our communities. For people living with epilepsy, unstable livelihoods often lead to one life-threatening challenge: missed medication.

At U-Rise Kenya, working alongside MaliMazingira Network (Tearfund), we are advancing regenerative agriculture as a climate and health solution.

Through climate-smart farming—soil restoration, water conservation, and sustainable crops—people with epilepsy and disabilities are building resilient livelihoods. This economic empowerment enables them to:
✅ Afford anti-epileptic medicine consistently
✅ Reduce seizure frequency
✅ Prevent treatment interruptions that increase the risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy)

🌟 Strengthening Communities Through Local Fundraising! 🌟

This week, U-Rise Kenya had the honour of joining 12 incredible community organisations for the Local Fundraising Training by Kenya Community Development Foundation — Change the Game Academy.

This transformational training is more than just a workshop. It is an investment in stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities. It equips grassroots organisations like ours to build financial sustainability, independence, and long-term resilience.

Throughout the sessions, we explored powerful modules that helped us:
✅ Strengthen our capacity to mobilize local support
✅ Build trust-based fundraising relationships
✅ Communicate our impact with clarity and emotion
✅ Develop strategies that inspire community action
✅ Create solutions that last because communities own them

And for U-Rise Kenya, these skills are deeply practical and urgent.
We are now applying them directly to our ongoing fundraising for the U-Rise Community Clinic — a centre dedicated to:
