FGM is not culture. It is violence.

Over 200 million women and girls worldwide have undergone FGM — many before the age of 5. In Kenya, thousands of girls are still at risk, despite the law banning the practice. Some are even subjected to medicalised FGM, but there is no safe form of FGM.
FGM steals health, confidence, education, and choice.
Every girl deserves safety. Every girl deserves dignity. Every girl deserves a future free from harm.
Let’s break the silence. Let’s shred the cycle. Let’s end FGM.

Together we can do this.

For Abeba, the road to a cure was harder than most. After suffering a double fistula following a traumatic obstructed labor, she spent six years in despair.

When treatment and multiple surgeries at Hamlin's Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital over 12 months were unsuccessful, she was faced with a terrifying choice: a diversion surgery that meant living with a stoma bag forever. She felt she had no choice. She was afraid.
That brave decision changed everything.

Not only did she regain her life, but she also found love. When she explained the stoma to her new husband, he accepted her fully.

Then came the true miracle. Against the odds, Cheneku became pregnant. She returned to Hamlin's Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital not for repair, but to safely deliver her babies.

Today, she is the mother of two beautiful, healthy daughters.

FGM IS A CRIME, NOT A TRADITION!

At the International Solidarity Foundation (ISF), we believe every girl has the right to grow up safe, healthy, and empowered.

FGM is a violation of human rights, and we remain committed to zero tolerance to this harmful practice. Through strong partnerships with the County Government, community leaders, religious institutions, schools, local administrators, and grassroots organizations, we continue to amplify voices that say NO to FGM.

Ending FGM requires collective action and sustained collaboration. It calls for parents to choose education, men to stand as protectors and champions, and communities to uphold dignity over harmful traditions.

At ISF, we will continue working hand in hand with our partners to protect girls’ rights and build safer, stronger communities where every girl can thrive.
