WHERE THERE IS PRIDE A FALL IS INEVITABLE

Pride is one of the evil things that emanate from the heart, which defiles a man. Mark 7:21-23.

It is a deadly sin that generates other sins and further immoral behaviours.

There are some personalities mentioned in the scriptures that manifested pride, who ended up catastrophically.

The list among others include, Athaliah, Haman, Herod, Jezebel, Nebuchadnezzar, Pharaoh, Satan and Sennacherib.

What are the signs of pride?

Arrogance, boasting, ego, envy, defensiveness, ingratitude, judgemental attitude, refusing advice, seeking recognition, self centeredness, self projection, spiritual pride, unwillingness to apologise and more.

The fruits of pride includes, arrogance, fearful of man rather than God, feeling superior, overtly self conscious, self sufficient, selfishly ambitious, unteachable, wanting attention and recognition and more.

Pride is a self worship and self preservation attitudinal behaviours, hence the scriptures gives warnings and alerts about its consequences as follows:

When pride comes, then comes shame... Proverbs 11:2.

Everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord. Proverbs 16:5.

Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18.

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty... Proverbs 18:12.

God resists the proud. James 4:10; 1 Peter 5:5-6.

Where there is a pride, disgrace, destruction and shame are inevitable.

When you are proud you attract God's wrath and judgement upon your life, because God hates pride.

How can you overcome pride?

* Be open minded to listen to what people are saying about you.

* Be self aware and don't take yourself too seriously.

* Ask the right questions and personally examine your own attitudinal behaviours.

* Go to the Lord in prayers to uproot the root of pride from your heart.

* Ask God to transform your life, give you a heart of flesh and the spirit of humility.
