World Teachers’ day message from our chair and Founder
Dear Teachers,
Today the whole world pauses to say something that should be said far more often: thank you.
I take this opportunity not only as the Founder and Chair of the Zeph Omweno Foundation, but as one of you. I was once a teacher. I know the early mornings and the late nights marking books. I know what it is to stand before a class of young faces, some eager, some tired, some hungry, some carrying burdens at home that no child should carry, and still find the strength to teach, encourage, and believe in every one of them. I know that your work does not end when the bell rings. It follows you home in your thoughts and your prayers.
So when I say thank you today, I say it from the heart of someone who has walked your path.
Every doctor who heals, every engineer who builds, every leader who serves, and every parent who raises a child with wisdom once sat in a classroom before a teacher like you. You do not only teach subjects. You shape character. You light fires of curiosity. You give hope to children who may not find it anywhere else. Many of the learners our Foundation supports tell us that what changed their lives was not only the school fees or the books. It was a teacher who saw something in them and refused to give up on them. That teacher is you.
Your work is often quiet and unseen. Your salary does not always match your sacrifice, and the world does not always notice your labour. But we are here today to let you know that: you are seen, you are valued, and your work matters more than you know.
The Bible holds teachers and those who guide others to wisdom in great honour. The seeds you plant today may take years to bloom, and you may not always see the harvest.
At the Zeph Omweno Foundation, we believe that education is the most powerful gift we can give a child, and that no education is possible without dedicated teachers. We remain committed to standing with you, supporting learners, and working alongside you to open doors of opportunity for every child, whatever their background.
To every teacher here today: thank you for your patience, your sacrifice, your love, and your faith in our children. Thank you for the lessons taught in the classroom and the lessons taught by your example. May God bless you, strengthen you, and reward you abundantly for the lives you touch every day.
Happy World Teachers' Day!
With deep gratitude and respect,
Zephaniah Omweno
