Here is a brief Summary on all Issues the we touched on,delivered by The Director A Million Hugs Mr Kibagendi Jairus during our Mentorship Session on Mental health, GBV , SGBV and Menstrual hygiene management at Nyakoe Ward on the first day of February 2025.

Afromomma foundation held transformative mentorship session for 50 girls, equipping them with essential knowledge on Mental Health, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with a focus on Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), setting SMART goals, and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM).

In Kenya, 65% of women and girls cannot afford sanitary pads, and over one million school-age girls miss an average of four school days per month due to menstruation. This amounts to 20% of the academic year, significantly impacting their education and mental well-being. To combat this, we partnered with A Million Hugs to distribute three packs of sanitary towels per girl, ensuring they can attend school confidently throughout the first term.

It is inspiring to see how small but intentional interventions can create a lasting impact on young girls’ lives. I am grateful to everyone who made this possible and remain committed to advocating for menstrual health and mental well-being. Together, we are ensuring that no girl misses out on education due to period poverty!
