*Olmoti Community Based Organization: Empowering Maasai People*
Founded in 2013, Olmoti Community Based Organization is an NGO dedicated to empowering Maasai people through community development projects. Our mission is to enable every Maasai person to have access to clean water, champion young girls' education, cultural conservation, and land rights.
*Who We Are*
Olmoti Community Based Organization is owned by the local Maasai community, led by cultural leaders from Kenya and Tanzania. Our leadership consists of 15 traditional chiefs and stakeholders who work tirelessly to preserve the Maasai culture and way of life.
*The Maasai People*
The Maasai are an ethnic group inhabiting northern, central, and southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania. With a population of approximately 1.2 million (2019 census), the Maasai people are known for their vibrant culture and traditions. They are semi-nomadic and pastoral, living by herding cattle and goats which is their source of livelihood. Their colorful shukas (sheets worn wrapped around the body) are a symbol of their rich heritage.
